Rob's philosophy is about making wine with character; wine with depth, which reflects our unique terroir. We achieve this using fruit picked from top vineyard sites throughout the region, making our wines a true expression the Yarra Valley. We are wine makers at heart, but the highest quality fruit is what truly makes our wines - and it’s our unparalleled relationships with growers that gives us j

ust that. In the winery, our focus is to make wines that showcase the calibre of fruit, wines with character and a true sense of place. Our cool climate wines carry elegance, complexity and depth of flavour, but for Rob, it all boils down to enjoyment, they’re easy to share and even easier to love. Our Cellar Door, only 30 minutes from Melbourne, is the perfect place to enjoy cheese and wine, and learn about the Yarra Valley from our Wine Specialists in the Cellar Door. Visit us for a tasting; order some cheese and wine to enjoy while overlooking the vineyard; or learn about pairing with our cheese + wine experience (COMING SOON).

2026 marks our first vintage with White Label wines coming entirely from Killara Estate.

So what did the season teach us? From late rain and careful picking decisions to a Pinot Noir block we’re particularly excited about, our first year at Killara has already given us plenty to think about.

Everyone thinks winter means red. Big, bold, something to warm you up. This Chardonnay didn't get the memo.

2025 was a cooler vintage. La Niña kept the heat spikes away and let the fruit ripen slowly, so what's in the glass is bright, fresh, and full of lovely acid. It's a rounder, fuller expression of Yarra Valley Chardonnay, with plenty of texture but still lifted.
Pour it alongside a Persian saffron roast chicken with barberry rice and let it prove the point: white wine works in winter too. You just need the right one.

Pinot Noir gets called a difficult grape to grow. Thankfully, it’s considerably less difficult to drink.

Ours is all red fruit, spice and that savoury edge that makes it particularly handy when dinner’s involved.

Meet Kevin.

You'll find him behind the counter at our new cellar door, pouring wines and making sure every guest leaves happier than they arrived.

Kevin has been at Killara for 16 years and if you've visited the estate before, there's a good chance you already know him. Ask him for a recommendation and he'll more than likely steer you toward Cabernet, especially if you tell him you're "not really a red drinker."

His favourite part of the job? Meeting guests who've travelled from overseas or made the day trip from the city, and seeing them living their best lives - sharing experiences you just wouldn't get walking down the street.

Come say hi when we open our doors on September 2nd. Kevin will be ready with a glass and a story.

All those hammers and timber you've heard about? They've been building something we can't wait to share with you. New space, new views, same wines we love pouring for you.
Come find us. We'll be ready.

We've been a little quiet on here lately, and that's because a lot of what's been happening has been happening with hammers and timber rather than keyboards. The cellar door at Killara is nearly there, and when it's ready it's going to be worth the trip out. We'll let you know the moment the doors are open, so keep an eye on this page. Good things are coming.

Winter at Killara has a particular feeling to it. The valley gets quiet, the light goes golden earlier, and the vines are doing the slow, patient work that good wine depends on. It's not the most glamorous time of year out here, but it's one of our favourites. The kind of season that reminds you why this place is worth the drive.

There are people who save the good wine for a proper occasion. And then there are people who've decided that a cheese board, a cold night, and something worth watching on Netflix is occasion enough.

There's a certain kind of winemaker who lets the wine do the talking. Ben Dolan is one of those. He grew up around wine, trained properly, and has spent years getting to know what this corner of the Yarra Valley is capable of. We could go on about his credentials but honestly the wines do a better job of that than we ever could. Try one and make up your own mind about him.

Sunday roast and a bottle of Pinot Noir is one of those combinations that doesn't really need much explaining. The fruit in the wine handles the richness of the meat and the whole thing just works in a way that feels almost too easy. If you're cooking this weekend, the White Label Pinot Noir is the one to reach for, and we're fairly confident you'll be glad you did.
