Just give him “water and chocolate” and our new ARTIST in FOCUS and FRAME newspaper photographer and freelancer Greg Douglas is ready to go…he says he "keeps his head free of music when shooting so he is firmly in the zone."

Greg is currently diving in to his archives to find a selection of work that will be shown in a retrospective.

What are we likely to see?

He loves sport. [“When too much sport is not enough” - Roy & HG], Surfing was his favourite but being a newspaper guy since the 1980’s Greg has captured many other types of sports, as you can see in this post, and he has also had opportunities to photograph Prime Ministers, homeless people, celebrities, places, events & travelled to many locations across the world.

His career in the press sector has seen Greg work for the Courier Newspaper Group as Head Photographer, Eastern Express Newspaper, Eastern Herald Newspaper, Cumberland Newspaper.
As a freelancer his images filled pages of magazines such as Inside Sport, Tracks, Golf Digest and Soccer Australia to name just a few.

Continuing a 'What's On.. ' segment for photography exhibitions...because its the season to get clicky...

At the Photographic Gallery in Surry Hills is:
METROPOLIS - a group show of street photography images spanning from 1985 to 2025

Featured photographers are Adam Davis, David Bradford, Enzo Amato, Julia Coddington, Matt Weber, Sam Ferris and Tim Levy

Please go support not only the photographers and images but the gallery itself as this is a new space in Sydney and well, we really need it to stay open..

The exhibition is already open and will run until 14th November

We're open today and tomorrow until 3pm where you can visit the shop/lab and go crazy with the choices of papers and frames...not crazy mad - crazy fun...! 😜

Three of our fab customers have joined up to make a group entry to the upcoming AFFORDABLE ART FAIR at Carriageworks 5th - 8th Nov

Wendy Coombes, Tony Potts and Barney Maple are all great photographers in their own genres and collectively make an impressive visual impact.

Each have prints made by CCP with some also choosing our frames.

Not only do we get a buzz being involved with this group but we are extra buzzed that they met because they are part of the Charing Cross Photo community. Our dreams coming to life.. so get along to see their work and make the dreams of these 3 talented people come to life too..

One of the big reasons why we exist - we being the place where you get professional prints and frames made here in Waverley - is that you then get to show your new creations in exhibitions, shows, fairs and all sorts of visually exciting events.

We also love to share your art news, and this being one of busiest times of the year for shows to be on we have a wonderful selection to share...

Coming up this Thursday 29th & Friday 30th is an exciting night called MIRACLES AND MADNESS. A group show of mixed styles all with a surrealist bent.

Photographer Catherine Hourihan came to us for all her prints and may we say how amazing they look.

Head to the Lolly Loft on Thursday and Friday 7pm - 10pm where you can see these and a medley mosaic of other magic..it will be a night to remember..

Welcome to the final instalment of our October ARTIST in FOCUS & FRAME multidisciplinary artist and photographer - Cybele Malinowski.

Music seems to be important to Cybele so we asked about that in our questionnaire.

Q: When you are on a shoot do you play music?

“Music is the soul of my shoot. It can elevate a room, or chill it right down. I am tweaking the algorithm throughout the day. When people come to my shoots, I want them to have fun, to enjoy the process, to think a little deeper, and ultimately to walk out with their feathers fluffed. To do this, its a combo of music, good crew, and to keep the energy moving throughout the day.”

Here at CCP we love music too - you often hear it in our shop/lab - so we resonate entirely with Cybele’s choice to use it. But final word of course goes to Cybele who shared the best photography advice she was given and we feel its certainly worthy to pass on to you all…

Cybele said “My brother, who trained me when I started… ‘if it’s not worthy of going on a gallery wall, don’t shoot it’. These words pop into my head randomly to this day. What I take from this, is no matter what you are shooting, what the budget, subject is, make this your best. Push yourself to find the extraordinary in any setup.”

Our happy photo comp winner Sara Corlis dropped in to the shop/lab in Waverley to chat with MASTER PRINTER Iain on how she wanted her print and frame to look..

Here it is in pieces and will be in our window very soon for everyone to see why her image 'Three Sheep and One Bird' was chosen. Its such a fantastic image.
