We get asked for book recommendations almost as much as we get asked about hydramama. So here they are!

These are the books we’d actually hand a friend, whatever stage of pregnancy, birth or motherhood they’re in.

Swipe through, and tell us which book changed how you saw pregnancy, birth or motherhood?

We’re always adding to the list.

Enjoy - LTB x

Happy Father’s Day to the ones who don’t get a baby shower, a due date countdown or a “how are you feeling” text every week, but who show up anyway.

The ones in the birth room holding a hand and swallowing their own fear. The ones doing the 3am feed so you can get one more hour of sleep. The ones who carry everything that isn’t visible - the logistics, the worry, the washing, the weight of watching someone they love go through the hardest thing they’ll ever do.

This is more than a “happy Father’s Day” post. It’s a thank you.

Tag the dad or support person who carried you through it. He deserves to see this. 🩷

To every parent who has ever felt like nobody is hearing the whole story:

We hear you.

Yesterday, Liam spent hours speaking with parents who had seen our posts and reached out because they felt failed, dismissed or passed endlessly between services.

Many of them spoke for 10, 15 or 20 minutes without stopping.

For some, it was the first time anybody had allowed them to explain everything.

Not just the behaviour a therapist wanted to discuss.

Not just the symptoms a doctor needed for an assessment.

Not just what the school was seeing in the classroom.

Everything.

The anxiety.

The food restrictions.

The sleepless nights.

The school refusal.

The violence and distress.

The constant appointments.

The conflicting advice.

The fear that they are getting it wrong.

The guilt that they somehow caused it.

And the unbearable exhaustion of trying to hold an entire family together while searching for answers.

These parents have not failed their children.

They have been trying to navigate a system that divides children into separate problems and expects families to connect the pieces themselves.

At Townsville Education Centre, we believe those pieces belong together.

Learning, communication, sensory needs, behaviour, physical health, emotional wellbeing, relationships and the family’s lived experience all form part of the same child.

Our promise is not that we will always have an immediate or simple answer.

Our promise is that we will listen.

We will look beyond the presenting behaviour.

We will value the knowledge parents carry about their own children.

And as our team and services continue to grow, we will keep working towards care that is connected, compassionate and built around the whole person.

If you are exhausted from repeatedly telling different professionals different pieces of your child’s story, please know this:

You are not difficult.

You are not overreacting.

You are not failing.

You are a parent fighting desperately to have your child understood.

And you deserve to be heard.

SECOND SESSION TIME ADDED - Get Your Tickets🌟

A gentle morning, made just for you.

We’re teaming up with Julia from Empower Health NQ for a pregnancy safe pilates morning, and honestly, we can’t wait.

This one is gentle by design. No pressure, no pushing your body past where it wants to go. Just movement that feels good, in a room full of women who get exactly what you’re carrying right now (literally and otherwise).

Stay after for coffee, thanks to our friends at Townsville’s Best Cinnamon Rolls & Stuffed Cookies.

We will a*o have hydration thanks to our Hydramama which is available in store.

Only 10 spots available, because this is a small, safe space, not a big class. $15 per person.

🤎 Sunday 30 August 🤎

Secure your place online, the link is in our bio.
