The Fair Work Commission has handed
down its decision.
From the first full pay period commencing on or after 1/7/26, the National Minimum Wage & Award pay rates go up by 4.75%.
The new National Minimum Wage will be $26.44 per hour, or $1,004.90 per week for a full time adult employee.
Casual minimum wage rate will be $33.05.

Even if you pay above Award rates, it's a good time to check your pay rates.

And don’t forget:
Payday Super starts 1 July 2026. From that date you pay super at the same time as wages.

If you need help with the new rates book in a call:

I hear these all the time from small business owners — and they may land you in hot water:

❌ "They're casual, so it doesn't matter"
❌ "We're a small team, we don't need contracts & policies"
❌ "If I pay above Award, I'm covered"
❌ "I can just let them go during probation"
❌ "It's common sense, people should just know"
HR isn't always obvious, and believing any of these could cost you more than you think.

I see this all the time with small business owners... the HR stuff that just keeps getting pushed to the bottom of the list.
The underperformer you're managing around instead of actually managing. The outdated contract. The pay rates you think are right. That conversation you've been putting off for weeks. The policies you know you need but haven't got around to yet.
Here's the thing though, avoiding it doesn't make it go away. It usually just makes it a bigger problem down the track.
If any of this sounds familiar, reach out. That's exactly what I'm here for.
