Before Peak Potential Coaching Co, we both spent our careers at Bunnings.

Along the way, we managed teams, developed leaders, built culture and experienced firsthand what makes businesses succeed.
But the biggest lesson we learnt? Businesses don’t succeed because of systems alone.
They succeed because of the people behind them.

That belief is what shaped the business. We’re passionate about helping small businesses access the same leadership, HR and development tools that large organisations have used for years.

No, this isn't a typo. Let us explain...

My door is always open.
Sounds great, right... or is it passive leadership disguised as inviting and accessible?

This phrase shifts 100% of the responsibility and emotional burden onto your employee, forcing them to be the only one to raise difficult issues. The best leaders don't wait for fires to walk through the door and announce themselves. Catching and solving problems in real time starts by building a culture of regular check-ins.

Great work... now what's next?

Spending all of 30 seconds celebrating a massive win before immediately pivoting to the next target is one of the fastest ways to burn out your team. Without real recognition and appreciation, the finish line keeps moving and eventually, your team stops running.

I trust you so I'm staying out of it.

No one wants to be micromanaged but there is a fine line between autonomy and abandonment. Taking a step back under the guise of trust can leave your team feeling isolated and damage your team culture.

Guilty of saying any of these things? Honestly, who isn't.
At the end of the day, great leadership isn't just about what you say. It's about the behaviours your words create.

It's one of the main reasons we started Peak. Even though our work environment changed, our mission has always stayed the same. We take everything we’ve learnt from leading large teams in a major organisation and make those tools available to small business owners who may never have had access to this kind of support.

Throwback to one of our favourite days with Warwick Community Kindy. This day was filled with fun, laughter and team connection. Seeing the team reconnect and celebrate each other's strengths. If we could go back 20 years, these are the 5 lessons we’d tell ourselves.
Although the truth is, we wouldn’t change a thing. While we're here sharing our advice, please don't get us wrong! Even after 20+ years, we still need to remind ourselves of these things.

There is no perfect business.
There is no perfect leader.
There is no perfect team.

There’s just consistently putting in the work, being willing to learn and knowing when to reach out for guidance. And maybe that’s the biggest lesson of all.
