🚨 Fire burning period date clarification

We’re advising the community of a correction to the 2025-26 Restricted and Prohibited Burning Period dates.

✅ All Restricted and Prohibited Burning Periods for the 2025-26 fire season ended at midnight on 25 April.

The 2026-27 burning period dates will be published before restrictions take effect around November this year.

Over the long weekend, our community came together in the best possible way.
Nine dedicated Shire of Dardanup Trainers volunteered their time to deliver Bushfire Safety Awareness and Firefighting Skills courses for ten new members who are beginning their journey as active firefighters.
A huge thank you to our trainers for sharing their knowledge, and a warm welcome to our newest members. Your commitment strengthens our community. 🚒👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

🔥 Restricted Burning Period starts tomorrow, Saturday, 11 April 2026

The Prohibited Burning Period ends tonight at midnight, and from tomorrow the Shire of Dardanup enters its Restricted Burning Period, running until Saturday, 25 April 2026 (subject to extension).

You WILL need a fire permit to:
🔸 Light a bonfire
🔸 Burn garden waste
🔸 Clear pasture through burning
🔸 Burn private bushland

To obtain a permit, visit our website for your local Fire Control Officer's contact details.

No permit needed for:
✅ Outdoor barbeques
✅ Pizza ovens
✅ Fire pits
Just make sure the surrounding area is clear of flammable materials to keep stray embers from catching nearby vegetation.

🏕️ Camping in DBCA-managed areas? Additional campfire restrictions may apply, including time limits and use of designated fire pits only.

The Shire of Dardanup’s Prohibited Burning Period has been extended to 10 April 2026 due to ongoing fire risk conditions.

All open burning remains strictly prohibited during this time.

🌀It’s not often we get the tail end of a cyclone impacting us in the south west! 🌀

DFES has issued a Damaging Winds Advice that covers some of the Shire of Dardanup.

While we don’t know if this will be a ‘fizzer’ or not, we suggest:

- Have a walk around your properties and prepare for strong winds and heavy rainfall.

- Save the SES number in case you need it

- Keep up to date by checking your Emergency WA App
