🔥 QUIZ ANSWER TIME 🔥

Did you have a crack at last night’s question?

What actually are spot fires?
And for those chasing the bonus points… why are they so dangerous? 👀🔥

Here’s the answer:

🔥 A spotfire is a fire that starts outside the main fire front, usually when burning embers are carried by the wind and land in another area with dry fuel

And this is where things can get pretty serious…

Those embers can travel ahead of the main fire, meaning you can suddenly have new fires starting well away from the original fire front

During a large bushfire, there can be multiple spotfires starting at once. Those fires can then grow, spread and potentially join together

🚗 And why is that dangerous?

Because a spotfire can start between you and your planned escape route

Suddenly, the route you thought was safe might not be

So… did you get it right? Let us know

And be honest… did anyone sneak a cheeky Google? 😂🔥

🔥 BUSHFIRE PREP CHECK: WHAT’S IN YOUR PPE KIT? 🔥

When we talk about bushfire preparation, it’s easy to focus on the big things — clearing around the house, checking your water supply, getting the pump ready…

But what about you? 👀

Having the right PPE on hand is an important part of being prepared, which is why we like the Crossfire Type 1 Wild Fire Gloves 🧤🔥

Here’s what we like about them:

🔥 Flame retardant
🐑 Fire-retardant wool cuff to help restrict ember entry
🧤 Extended 7cm leather wristlet cuff for added protection
🌡️ Designed to help restrict heat transfer from flame, radiant and conductive exposure
✔️Heat resistant in accordance with AS/NZS 2161.6
💪 Kevlar stitching throughout
👍 Keystone thumb for comfort and flexibility
🐄 Made from A-grade cowhide leather
🧼 Machine washable
✅ Certified by SAI Global

Take a look at the gloves on our website and make sure your PPE is sorted before you need it

If you're looking to submit an application for safety or other equipment, send us an email with the details of the items you're looking at and we can provide you with an official quote to include with your application

Applications are open until 18 September 2026

👉 More information is available on the CFS website — we’ll pop the link in the comments

If you’re in SA and have been thinking about upgrading your firefighting setup, now might be a good time to have a look at what’s available 🔥💦

The AFAC have released their 2026 Spring bushfire outlook. They are predicting a heightened bushfire risk across:
🔥Northern NSW
🔥Southeastern NSW
🔥Large parts of the NT
🔥SE QLD
🔥Northwestern SA
🔥Northeastern TAS
🔥Parts of VIC
🔥Parts of WA

There are a variety of risk factors leading to these predictions including below average rainfall across northeast and eastern Tasmania, as well as parts of Victoria and above average fuel loads and dry soil conditions across parts of WA

The red regions on the map are the regions with predicted heightened bushfire risk, however we need to remember that bushfires can still happen in other regions
Now is the time to get prepared

🔥 QUIZ ANSWER TIME 🔥

A reminder of last night's question:

What types of water sources can you use to run your FC-7 Portable Bushfire Sprinkler System? 💦

The answer is… any static water source, including:

💧 Rainwater tanks
🏊 Pools
💦 Dams

And there’s an important part to this answer that’s worth talking about…we didn't mention mains water

🚰 What about mains water?

We highly discourage relying on mains water as your firefighting water source

Our mains water systems are designed to supply relatively small amounts of water for everyday use — showers, toilets, washing dishes, watering the garden, etc

But when a bushfire hits, things change quickly

Imagine an entire neighbourhood suddenly turning on their taps and hoses at full flow, all at the same time. Then add emergency services drawing water from hydrants to fill their trucks

The demand on the network can be huge, and water pressure can drop significantly — sometimes to very little or even nothing

And that can make an already stressful situation even harder

This is why having a dedicated firefighting water source ready to go is such an important part of your bushfire preparation

The FC-7 is designed to connect to any static water source, so when you need it, your firefighting water is already there 💦🔥

Because when a bushfire is at your doorstep, you don't want to be wondering:

“Where am I going to get enough water from?”

You want to already know the answer
