🇨🇦 Canada has opened a special study-to-PR pathway for French-speaking international students!

As of August 26, 2026, eligible students from 33 countries can apply under the Francophone Minority Community Student Pilot — FMCSP.

Here’s the important part: students who come to Canada through this specific pilot, complete their eligible studies, and meet the PR requirements can apply directly for permanent residence after graduation.

To qualify, you generally need:

✅ Citizenship from one of the 33 eligible countries
✅ French proficiency of at least NCLC 5
✅ Acceptance from one of the participating schools outside Quebec
✅ A full-time program of at least two years
✅ More than 50% of your classes taught in French
✅ And you must meet the financial and other study-permit requirements.

For this intake, IRCC will accept up to 2,970 applications, and the intake runs until August 25, 2027, or until the cap is reached.

After graduation, eligible students can apply for PR and may also qualify for an open work permit while waiting for the PR decision.

⚠️ But remember: this does not mean automatic PR. You must qualify for the pilot, complete the required program, and meet the PR eligibility and admissibility requirements.

If you speak French and are planning to study in Canada, this is definitely a pathway you should know about.
