🇬🇧 A Rare Sterling Silver Ashburton Shield, Won by Molson Brewing Family
A remarkable piece of British shooting and Canadian history.
This sterling silver Ashburton Shield was won by Rugby School, Warwickshire, in 1909. The shield was made by Elkington & Co. and is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1909.
The plaques on the wooden base name the members of the winning team, including H.E. Molson, Captain of the Rugby School team and a member of the famous Canadian Molson brewing family. He would later serve as Lieutenant-Colonel H.E. Molson, B.C. Regiment (Duke of Connaught’s Own).
A rare privately held example of the Ashburton Shield, combining British shooting history with an important Canadian connection.
