Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the generations who continue to live with their lasting impacts.
For us, wearing orange is more than a symbol. It is a reminder that reconciliation requires more than acknowledgement. It requires listening, learning, understanding our shared history, and continuing to build relationships based on respect.
As firefighters, we are privileged to serve our community. That responsibility includes recognizing the history of the land on which we live and work and respecting the Indigenous Peoples who have called this land home since long before us.
Today, we remember.
We listen.
We learn.
And we recognize that reconciliation is not the work of a single day, but an ongoing commitment we all share.
Every Child Matters. 🧡
