🇨🇦 IRCC has introduced a temporary measure for PNP applicants in Canada who have submitted their PR application but have not yet received an Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR).

If an AOR has not yet been issued, applicants may use alternative proof that their PR application was submitted and fees were paid, when applying for certain work permits.

Ontario’s changes to the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) could have a significant impact on immigrant and refugee students, with advocates and students warning that the program overhaul may create additional financial barriers for newcomers, as reported by The Globe and Mail.

Starting this fall, the maximum proportion of OSAP aid available as grants will be capped at 25%, down from 85%. As a result, many students are expected to rely more heavily on repayable loans to fund their education.

IRCC has put out a statement acknowledging that some eligible candidates were not invited in the May 28, 2026 French-language proficiency draw. The department says it is reviewing the issue and that affected candidates do not need to take any action at this time.
