We're looking forward to firefighter applications reopening in January! Until then, we are very excited to announce not only the return of our firefighter recruitment information sessions, but a brand new approach to them.

Taking place Sunday, November 30, interested firefighter applicants will have the opportunity to participate in the following at the EFRS Training Academy:

đźš’ Recruitment Deep Dive: Review the complete application process, key dates, and exact eligibility requirements.

đźš’ Hands-on Gear Experience: Try on official Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to understand the demands of working in full firefighter gear.

đźš’ Physical Test Simulation: Step onto the floor to attempt key components of the physical fitness test in a non-evaluated, simulated setting.

đźš’ Q&A: Speak with active EFRS recruiters and operational members.

Due to future forecasted weather conditions, the current fire status has been down graded to a FIRE ADVISORY for all of Brazeau County and Town of Drayton Valley effective Tuesday October 14, 2025 at 5:00pm. Outdoor burning is permitted only with a fire permit or in an approved fire pit or burning appliance. The FIRE ADVISORY will remain in effect until further notice.

The following fires are permitted:
âś…Outdoor burning is permitted with an approved fire permit.
âś…Internal household fire places
âś…Incinerators (for farm and acreage use)
âś…Burn barrel (steel/metal drum no larger than 45 gallons- for Agriculture lands)
âś…Solid Fuel barbecues (charcoal briquettes)
âś…Bylaw compliant backyard and camping fires
âś…Fires contained within approved facilities and appliances in designed camping and recreational areas
âś…Portable propane fire pits and appliances

What began as a medical call has led to the deployment of the Hazmat Technician Team to an incident on Evergreen Drive between Shannon and Twin Oaks.

Please stay away from the area to allow emergency crews to operate safely.
