FEDERAL–LOCAL DIALOGUE | BRINGING OUR REGIONAL BUSINESS VOICE FORWARD

The Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed the Honourable Eleanor Olszewski, Minister of Emergency Management and Community Resilience and Minister responsible for Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan), for a roundtable with local business leaders.

Representatives from several sectors of our business community discussed tariffs and relief measures, process bottlenecks, agriculture, energy, forestry, trade, productivity, federal business supports, emergency preparedness and the opportunities and barriers affecting future regional growth.

Minister Olszewski emphasized the importance of hearing directly from local businesses and bringing community-level concerns forward.

The conversation also looked at Canada’s broader goal of moving from “reliance to resilience” by diversifying trade, encouraging Canadian procurement and reducing dependence on any single market.

Regional resilience was another important focus - from natural disasters and business continuity to strong transportation, infrastructure and supply chains.

These conversations help connect what is happening on the ground in our region with federal decision-makers while strengthening collaboration between business, municipal, provincial and federal partners.

The Chamber will continue ensuring the strengths, challenges and opportunities of our regional business community are heard.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our Business After 5 Mixer hosted by the Grande Prairie & Area Association of Realtors at the Pomeroy Hotel & Conference Centre .

It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout, with plenty of networking, great conversations, and new connections happening throughout the evening. A big thank you to our hosts for bringing everyone together and creating such a welcoming space for our business community.

Events like these are a great reminder of the strength of our regional business community and the value of coming together to build relationships and support one another.

SHOWCASING OUR REGION TO GLOBAL INVESTORS

The Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce was pleased to join Invest Alberta and Invest NorthWest in welcoming Marubeni Corporation for a tour showcasing the opportunity and potential across our region.

The tour connected Marubeni representatives with local businesses across key sectors, showcasing the strength of our existing industries, the businesses that support them, and the significant opportunities for future growth and investment.

More than showcasing individual companies, the goal was to provide a clear picture of what makes our region competitive - a strong and diverse business community, established stakeholder relationships, access to opportunity, and an economic trajectory that continues to build momentum.

The Chamber’s role is to help tell that broader regional story: connecting investors with business leaders, providing insight into our business environment, and highlighting the untapped potential that exists across Grande Prairie and Northwest Alberta.

Thank you to Invest Alberta, Invest NorthWest and the local businesses that helped showcase the strength, capability and opportunity within our region.

✂️ Ribbon Cutting – Beyond The Lens Photography & Verge Model and Talent Management

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of attending the Ribbon Cutting for Beyond the Lens Photography & Verge Model & Talent Management, and it was great to see so many people come out to show their support.

It was wonderful to tour the space, learn more about both businesses, and even see a few attendees take the opportunity to update their headshots while they were there.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate this exciting milestone. We wish the teams at Beyond the Lens Photography and Verge Model & Talent Management continued success as they grow here in our region.

What a great day at the 2026 Chamber Golf Scramble presented by Pembina Pipeline Corporation ! ⛳️

A huge thank you to everyone who came out, golfed, sponsored, supported, and helped make this year’s tournament such a success. It was a fantastic day of friendly competition, great conversations, and plenty of fun on the course.
