Here's something science tells us that most leaders ignore:
Within 20 minutes of whoever's facilitating or leading, they will set the tone for the people in the room for the rest of the day.
Let that sink in. Twenty minutes. That's how long it takes for your energy to become their energy.
You know what that means? It's an absolute extreme responsibility to share that enthusiasm. Oftentimes, we're the first people that people see as they come through the door. We're the tone-setter. We're the energy-bringer.
So here's the question: What tone do you want to set for your employer? For your team? For your organization?
If you want to set a positive meaning, be that enthusiastic, positive self. Show up with energy. Show up with care. Show up like you actually want to be there.
And here's the bonus: when we're passionate, when we set goals for ourselves, when we share those goals with the people around us, we're able to achieve more. Not just individually—as a team. As an organization.
Your enthusiasm isn't just about you. It's about everyone in the room. 🚀
