Take a look inside the Convertus York Biofuel Facility! 👀

Construction is moving fast, and equipment installation inside the building is officially well underway. Key processing technology, including the new shredder, the state-of-the-art odour abatement system, and other critical infrastructure, is currently being set into place.

Convertus is gearing up to bring this incredible renewable energy project online, and seeing the interior take shape is a massive milestone for the facility.

These developments mark a significant step forward in preparing the site for future operations and advancing local renewable energy capabilities.

The construction of the Convertus York facility is making excellent progress. Work on the process building is advancing well, with overhead mechanical and electrical services currently underway and the installation of the odour abatement system now started. Additionally, the setup of process equipment in the slurry tanks is nearing completion. We have also completed the final construction of the pond. The project remains on schedule, with commissioning expected to begin later this year and service commencement anticipated in early 2027. We look forward to sharing further developments as this state-of-the-art facility comes to life.

Convertus Group is pleased to announce the successful financial close of $135 million in project financing for our flagship biofuel facility located in York Region, Ontario.

We are grateful for the partnership and support of Power Sustainable Infrastructure Credit (PSIC), and to Selkirk Advisory Group for their expertise and guidance throughout the financing process.

This major milestone advances Canada’s first biofuel plant with integrated CO2 liquefaction technology toward commissioning and commercial operations. The state-of-the-art facility is designed to process up to 200,000 tonnes of organic waste annually and is expected to produce between 350,000 and 400,000 gigajoules of renewable natural gas each year. In addition to renewable natural gas, the facility will produce low-carbon liquid fertilizer and food-grade liquefied CO₂.

The project remains on schedule, with service commencement anticipated in early 2027.
