An elevated PSA does not always mean prostate cancer, but it is concerning and may require you to undergo imaging to help rule out the possibility of aggressive cancer.

Imaging can provide your urologist more information about your prostate and potential areas of concern that may need further attention. Depending on your imaging results and other risk factors, your doctor can then talk with you about what steps may come next.

❌ MYTH: Only older men should think about prostate cancer.

✅ FACT: Based on information provided by the American Cancer Society, the risk of prostate cancer does increase with age, but age isn’t the only factor. Family history and other risk factors can also play a role, according to the American Cancer Society.

Knowing your risk is an important first step. Talk with your doctor about your personal risk factors and when prostate cancer screening may be right for you.
