A seminar hit me with a blunt one a few weeks ago: "They don't care about you." Meaning customers. They care about their problem and whether you can help.

Turns out the same lesson shows up in workplaces going through change too. It's easy to focus on your own seat at the table when things feel uncertain. Harder, and more useful, to focus on what you bring to it.

This month's newsletter is about that pattern.

A seminar said it bluntly. A coaching session confirmed it. The same lesson showed up twice in one month.

Someone called me "Mr LinkedIn" last night, with a huge smile on his face.

I'm not shying away from it. I'm embracing it.

It means what I'm doing is working: connecting people here in Moncton and highlighting opportunities they might miss otherwise.

The real validation? Hearing that my tips helped someone join the Econ Dev Southeast NB / Dev écon Sud-Est NB Connector program and Government of New Brunswick's WorkingNB. Knowing my reposts are actually useful to people.
That's the whole point.

Three months ago I was laid off. Last week I was leading a workshop at a local community event, not for work, just because someone asked if I could help.

The gap between those two moments has been teaching me a lot about what I'm actually here to contribute.

This month's newsletter is about what shows up when nothing's required of you. It might be worth a read.

What if your team could do more of what they do best every day?

As a people manager, this is exactly the kind of environment I worked to build. One where people feel valued, supported, and set up to succeed.

I love that Gallup has the data to show how powerful strengths-based development really is.

If this is the kind of team culture you want to build, let’s chat. 📲

What a weekend at Hack4Change Moncton!

As a relatively new volunteer at civictechmoncton, being asked to facilitate the pitching workshop last Saturday was not something I took lightly. It was an honour and, honestly, a little humbling.

The energy in that room was something else. Those teams had been building for over 24 hours by then, barely any sleep, and still fully engaged and eager to learn. I hope it was worth the 30 mins that took you out of your coding time ☺️

And to every participant, thank you for your time, your commitment, and for making this first Hack4Change Moncton a success.

A special thank you to Shannon and Civic Tech Moncton for the trust, and for organizing this event where community and technology genuinely came together.

Officially renewed as a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach!

Been doing this since the early days in the Philippines. I was one of the first certified coaches in the country, and honestly, I still love it. Helping people tap into their superpowers? Watching teams go from good to awesome? Never gets old!

Anyone in Moncton need a strengths coach? Asking for a friend. (That friend is me.) ☺️

We did it. 🎉

After four years and three provinces, the wifey and I are officially Permanent Residents of Canada. 🇨🇦

It wasn't a straight line. But the goal never changed, and that made all the difference.

Thank you for trusting me with your growth. Four discovery coaching sessions booked since launching my booking page earlier this month. It might not sound like much, but it's a great start.

Why should January 1st be any better than yesterday or tomorrow?

* Big dates provide an excuse to delay the work we could do right now.
* Using this as a permission slip keeps you stuck in waiting mode.
* Small, frequent resets are more effective than 1 massive annual push.
