LEADING THROUGH EXHAUSTION
PART 2: When Power Protects Itself: Leadership Failure and Manipulated Reality
What happens when saving face becomes more important than preventing human suffering?
Much of today’s instability is not inevitable. It results from choices. Yet powerful leaders repeatedly prioritize self-preservation, being right, political survival and personal interests while people absorb the consequences.
Propaganda and misinformation can then be used to defend failures, control narratives and manipulate public perception.
Key Insights
1. Being right can become a trap.
Conscious leaders change course when evidence and human consequences demand it.
2. Question the narrative.
Selective facts, repetition, omission and emotional framing can distort judgment without relying on complete falsehoods.
3. Keep humanity visible.
Leadership must be judged by its consequences for people—not merely power, image or victory.
