Access control installed this week in a beautiful care home in Grantham. Purpose of this system is to restrict access to the staff area for residents & families but allows staff to pass through & hold the doors open for trolleys etc. System is linked to the fire alarm to release on a fire condition too for increased safety and security.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire Door Holdbacks & Free-Swing Closers โ€“ Lichfield Care Home ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿšจ

Another challenging installation completed at this plush care home in Lichfield ๐Ÿก๐Ÿ”ง

We installed holdbacks and free-setting closers, mounted both internally and externally to suit the existing door frames, ensuring the installation worked with the building rather than against it. ๐Ÿšชโœ…

This was a live care home, which brings its own set of challenges. ๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿ‘ดโค๏ธ Working around residents, staff and day-to-day operations meant careful planning, coordination and keeping disruption to an absolute minimum.

๐Ÿ”Œ Concealed wiring was a key part of the installation.
All doors were wired with cabling carefully concealed above solid ceilings and behind coving, maintaining the high-quality finish expected on such a plush site. In some areas, we even had to remove light fittings and other fixtures to achieve the required cable routes while keeping everything neat and discreet. ๐Ÿ‘Œโœจ

๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire alarm integration is critical.
The door circuits are linked directly into the fire alarm system, meaning that in a fire condition the holdbacks release and the doors can close as intended. This is a vital part of maintaining the buildingโ€™s fire strategy โ€” helping to prevent fire and smoke from spreading through the premises and protecting residents, staff and emergency escape routes. ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿšช

๐Ÿ“‹ This is also why proper door surveys and Fire Risk Assessments are so important.

Every building is different, and every door can present its own requirements. A thorough survey helps identify the correct hardware, fixing methods, door/frame construction, wiring routes and interfaces with existing systems. A Fire Risk Assessment then considers how those doors form part of the wider fire safety strategy.

Especially in a care home, where residents may be vulnerable or require assistance to evacuate, getting the details right really matters. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน

Another job where the finished result looks simple โ€” but a lot of planning, problem-solving and careful installation goes on behind the scenes. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

๐Ÿ” Another access control upgrade completed! ๐Ÿ

Weโ€™ve recently installed a new access control system on the inner reception door, helping to keep residents safe and secure while maintaining controlled access to the reception area. ๐Ÿ‘

The door is configured to release automatically in a fire condition and is fitted with a green emergency break-glass unit ๐Ÿšจ๐ŸŸข, ensuring safe and compliant emergency exit at all times.

While on site, we also installed two new doorbells linked directly into the homeโ€™s nursecall system ๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ“ฒ. This means visitors can now alert staff across the home much more quickly, rather than relying solely on a reception doorbell that may not always be manned.

As always, it was fantastic to leave another happy client! ๐Ÿ˜Š The client was so pleased with our work that theyโ€™ve already asked us to provide more quotations for upcoming projects โ€” itโ€™s great to know theyโ€™ve found a reliable contractor they can trust. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ”ง

And with this beautiful hot summer weather โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿฅต, there was only one thing left to do after a busy day on siteโ€ฆ grab a nice cold drink and ice cream ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฅค๐Ÿ˜Ž

Another job done, another happy client! โœ…

๐Ÿ”ฅ A serious reminder of why fire safety matters.

Weโ€™ve recently completed the installation of new holdback / free-swing devices at this small independent assisted living site in Watford.

The doors are powered using a discreet double-gang power supply and linked directly to the fire alarm panel. In the event of a fire condition, the devices release and the doors automatically close, helping to contain the spread of fire and protect residents, staff and the building.

On our travels, we could see a very serious fire in St Albans, with thick black smoke bellowing into the sky. It appeared to be a warehouse or industrial building, and the smoke could be seen for miles.

We sincerely hope everyone involved is safe and okay. Seeing something like that really brings home how quickly a fire can escalate and how important it is to have the right fire safety measures in place.

Whether you manage an assisted living facility, care home, commercial premises or any other site, make sure your fire doors, holdback/free-swing devices, fire alarm interfaces and overall fire strategy are regularly checked and fit for purpose.

๐Ÿงฏ Fire safety isnโ€™t something to overlook โ€” it could save lives.

๐Ÿ”ง Another Sunday job completed in South Wales! ๐Ÿด

The team were out on site on a lovely summerโ€™s day, keeping up with the current demand and making sure our customersโ€™ sites stay safe and operational. โ˜€๏ธ

๐Ÿšช Door closer replacement
The existing door closers were no longer holding the doors open correctly, with clear evidence of oil leaking from the failed units.

We:
โœ… Removed the old closers
โœ… Cleaned and prepared the area
โœ… Supplied and fitted new replacement units
โœ… Tested everything to ensure correct operation

๐Ÿ”ฅ Heat detector replacement
While on site, we also replaced a heat detector which had recently failed. Following completion, the fire alarm panel was left healthy and fully operational.

A busy Sunday, but another job done properly! ๐Ÿ’ช

Thanks to the team for putting in the weekend shift and continuing to keep up with demand. ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ”ฅ Project Complete โ€“ Phase 1 at Heathrow Office Block ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿšจ

Another successful fire alarm upgrade completed by the team! ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™‚๏ธโœ…

As part of this phase, we installed an additional 4-loop fire alarm control panel on the first floor of our clientโ€™s prestigious office building at Heathrow, seamlessly networking it into the existing fire alarm system to provide greater capacity for future expansion. ๐Ÿ”—๐Ÿ“ก

The project involved:
๐Ÿ”น Installing and networking the new 4-loop panel with the existing system.
๐Ÿ”น Splitting the existing first-floor loop to create additional capacity.
๐Ÿ”น Installing multiple new void detectors to improve fire detection in concealed ceiling spaces.
๐Ÿ”น Adding relays for the air conditioning units, ensuring the HVAC system responds correctly during a fire alarm activation.
๐Ÿ”น Replacing and repositioning detectors within the new suspended ceiling grid to maintain full compliance and optimum coverage.

Working within a fully occupied live office environment meant careful planning and precise ex*****on. ๐Ÿข Every single day before leaving site, we ensured the fire alarm system was fully operational, providing uninterrupted protection for the building and its occupants. Safety is never compromised. ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Projects like this highlight the importance of future-proofing life safety systems. By increasing loop capacity now, the building is ready for ongoing improvements while maintaining the highest standards of fire detection, occupant safety, and regulatory compliance.

Weโ€™re proud to continue supporting a prestigious client that weโ€™ve worked alongside for many years. Their continued trust in our team is something we never take for granted. ๐Ÿคโญ

๐Ÿšง Next up: Phase 2 will see us upgrading the second floor, making full use of the additional loop capacity weโ€™ve now created.

30 free swing closers successfully installed on the ground floor of an occupied care home in Coventry this week๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™‚๏ธโœจ

A carefully planned install saw all units wired above the corridor lift-out ceiling grid, with angled drilling from the bedrooms to route cabling discreetly from the corridor side. This approach kept everything neat and minimised the need for trunking or making good โ€” just how our client prefers it ๐Ÿ‘

All systems are connected back to 24v power supplies, with dedicated spurs installed by electricians. These integrate directly with the fire alarm system, ensuring automatic release in the event of a fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿšช

As always, attention to detail matters โ€” full clean-up completed, waste removed for recycling โ™ป๏ธ, and all penetrations professionally fire-stopped for safety and compliance.

Another smooth project delivered by the team โ€” and another happy customer! ๐Ÿ‘
