Happy Bank Holiday everyone!! Thank you Duchy College Stoke Climsland for this Friday afternoon treat. I am always powered by porridge! It was a pleasure to talk to students recently about arboricultural careers and the day-to-day life of an arborist. I was very impressed by this brilliant group of young people.

Last week in Bere Alston, we dismantled a mature Beech tree which we have been monitoring for a few years. Sadly the roots were lifting up a private road and the safety of the tree could no longer be ensured. In these 2 videos you can see me performing the same cut from 2 different perspectives! 👀 Technical and experienced lowering was required to dismantle these large extended branches over a shed, a wall and the road.

Long post alert!!! GRAB A CUPPA! ☕️ 🫖 The rather gusty winds today reminded us of one of the most difficult jobs we have had this year. Back in January, Storm Goretti brought this Eucalyptus down, narrowly missing the house; except the main branches were on the rooves!! ⚠️ It had amazingly caused very little damage to the house and the trick was to get it off the house, without it rolling. Knight Scaffolding of Liskeard expertly fitted some scaffolding and boards between the tree and the rooves so we had something to work from. It rained heavily and constantly during the 2 days in Saltash! Remember the 60 odd days of rain? 💭💦More Winter tree posts in-coming. We just haven't had time till now!😱🥵 If you have storm damage from today's gusts, don't hesitate to get in touch. As you can see we really do take on anything!😁🙌

The 🌞 has arrived in Cornwall and last job of a very busy week was balancing a Sycamore crown down on the tidal estuary of the mighty river Tamar in Saltash. Also removed the strangling Ivy before it got a hold. Views of Brunel's Bridge maximised. 🌉

This Sessile Oak (Quercus petraea) is a big as they come. Second day of reducing the crown over the barn! Thank goodness the 🌞 came out to play.... finally!!! Here you can see some finishing cuts above the barn and my team lowering branches away from the roof! 🙌

Performing a crown reduction on a Beech (Fagus sylvatica) with a Tree Preservation Order in Tavistock is very tricky in these slippery conditions! We regularly reduce this tree so it is safe as it is surrounded by houses. Thank you to my team for working in these awful conditions which show no signs of improving!

What a month January has been so far!!! Snow and ice, torrential rain, the hurricane force winds of Storm Goretti and now a lively Storm Ingrid from the East! We haven't had much time for photography and social media but here we are attending to emergency storm damaged trees in between our regular planned work. So far this year we have completed jobs in: Tavistock, Metherell, Rilla Mill, Calstock, Launceston, Plymouth, Latchley, Harrowbarrow, Callington, Cargreen, Whitchurch, Gunnislake and Dousland. That's a lot of tree surgery!!🌳 🥵
We specialise in difficult and dangerous trees and complicated storm damage.
