Canterbury BID Canterbury Business Improvement District (BID) is an independent, business-led, not-for-profit organisation.

We promote Canterbury's business community and work to keep our city welcoming, clean, green and safe for all. Canterbury Connected Business Improvement District (BID) is an independent, business-led, not-for-profit initiative voted for by the businesses of Canterbury in July 2014 and again in July 2019 for another five-year term. Nationally, there are over 300 BIDs in the UK, including three in Kent (Canterbury was the first), investing over £130 million every year, giving business an independent voice and investing in business-led initiatives. to ensure continued investment in Canterbury City Centre. Our mission is to help make Canterbury a vibrant, exciting, well connected and successful business community; an attractive, clean, green, safe and enjoyable destination for customers and clients, shoppers and staff, residents, students and visitors; and a profitable place in which to do business.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Lookumades in St Margaret's St for breakfast networking on Tuesday. It was fantastic to see new and familiar faces catching up and connecting after the summer break.

🏛️ Discover the wonderful range of work inspired by our city’s outstanding heritage at the Heritage Expo 2026, a free event organised by Canterbury Commemoration Society at The Westgate Hall, Canterbury on Saturday 28 November, 10am-4pm.

💬 Come along and browse over 40 stalls, hear expert speakers, learn more about Canterbury's diverse history, and see what exciting opportunities, paid and voluntary, are available in the public, private and charitable sectors.

🎉 Canterbury BID’s super-popular Back To School event returned last week to celebrate the new school year!

🤩 The vibrant programme of free activities for 11–18 year olds offered a mix of entertainment, creativity and sports designed to engage young people and bring energy to the city.

🎶 The event included spin the wheel, games hub, DJ sets, workshops and sports activities, all taking place in St George’s St near the bus station, where young people commute to school, making it easy to drop in and join the fun.

A huge thank you to Kent Police for funding this year’s programme of events.

🌍 The UN Women 16 Days of Activism global campaign raises awareness of violence against women and girls and runs from Wednesday 25 November to Thursday 10 December, Human Rights Day.

🟠 Soroptimist International Canterbury will hold a Silent March on Saturday 28 November through the city centre. Businesses along the route are encouraged to show their support by lighting or dressing their windows in orange.
