Our Managing Director, Lee Howells is incredibly proud, excited and genuinely humbled to share that South Wales Safety Ltd has been shortlisted as a finalist for “Best New Business Start-up” at the 2026 Business Wales - South Wales Business Awards

𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 and I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved as a business and also what I've personally overcome and achieved....this makes it even more special!!

SWS is still a relatively small team, supported by a fantastic network of Associate Consultants & Partnering Businesses, and every one of them has played a part in our journey. While my name may sit against the business as its owner, SWS certainly isn’t a one-person achievement.

So, a massive thank you to my team, Owen Dominic, Ben Cooke, Anthony Dean and Associates for their hard work, loyalty and dedication, and to our clients, suppliers and partners for continuing to support and put their trust in us.

💚 Supporting Taff Ely Foodbank 💚

Last week, Lee Howells from South Wales Safety Ltd was proud to visit and support Butcher’s Team at Taff-Ely Foodbank with a donation of items from their current “Top 5” most-needed products.

The figures behind the need for support are currently striking:

Since the beginning of 2026, Taff Ely Foodbank has already supported 1,638 people through 689 emergency food vouchers – a 5% increase compared with the same period in 2025.

At the same time, food donations are struggling to keep pace.

📦 11,521kg of food donated so far this year
📉 3% decrease in donations compared with the same period last year
👥 1,638 people supported already in 2026

Put simply, there is a growing gap between the amount of food coming into the warehouse and the amount needed to support people in our local communities.

Taff Ely Foodbank | Banc Bwyd Taff-Ely and South Wales Safety Ltd are calling on businesses across the area to help.

If your organisation has Corporate Social Responsibility or Social Value commitments, this is a simple way to make a genuine difference locally. Whether that’s organising a workplace collection of their most-needed items, making a financial donation to help them purchase essential food, or simply sharing these figures with your colleagues and network, every bit of support helps.

Another fantastic and productive week at South Wales Safety Ltd, balancing ongoing customer support with new client enquiries, proposals, accreditation successes, reviews, and some well-earned networking along the way.

✅A real highlight was providing SMAS SSIP Scheme accreditation support at very short notice for Darren Wadsworth and Loumac Plumbing & Heating.....helping businesses achieve compliance when they need it most is exactly what we're here for.
✅Supporting Adam Hurlin, Sam Barclay and TPS360 - Total Protective Solutions 360 PROJECT SOLUTIONS at their prestigious “Monmouth Walk” Canopy Replacement scheme at Cwmbran Shopping Centre - Site Inspections.
✅David Spear Commercials visit carrying out a full Health & Safety review. Progress being made is excellent, and it's a pleasure working with this company David Spear Geraint Yeo and Laurence Winmill for another productive visit.
✅Full ISO implementation review with PNM Bricklaying Limited in Weston-super-Mare
✅An Environmental, ISO and Carbon review with my long-standing client, Rebecca Walker at Hammond ECS Ltd. Having worked together for over 20 years, it's always rewarding to see our partnership continue to evolve.
✅Site and Premises inspection at RR Metal Recycling in Pontypridd. Recycling facilities never fail to impress me with the scale and complexity of their operations.
✅Looking to the future, it was exciting to meet with the brilliant Marco Oliver from configur_hq to discuss our new SWS CRM and AI adoption platform. Embracing AI will help us continue delivering an even better experience for our clients while streamlining the way we work.
✅Knowing our own limits - SWS made an introduction to Selway and fireriteuk and they are now quoting for works – you see, “Competitors can Work Together” to help customers and I genuinely love this collaborative approach!!....that's what Comercity is all about.

☀️To round off the week, I had the pleasure of taking part in the kidney_wales Charity Golf Day at the beautiful Woodlake Park Golf Club. It was a fantastic event for a great cause and an opportunity to enjoy a good catch-up with Ashley Davies from Always Responsive ☀️

Finally, a huge thank you to Simon Drinkwater from vantoradvisory for kindly stepping in and representing me at BNI Intrepid while I supported the charity event. Your support, as always, is hugely appreciated.

✅Compliance: ARE YOU AUDIT / INSPECTION READY????✅

On Tuesday I was asked by a client about my views on a new potential client of theirs coming in to "Audit" them!!.....Obviously, my response was to say yes to them and to be as receptive and organised as possible!!!

Her response was: Lee, i've only ever had Inspections before but they want to formally Audit us......what's the difference?????......that got me thinking that many other people may get worried or confused so here's a picture that I've Ai Generated to try and help!!

Fundamentally though, and in my opinion - it's not the terminology that's being used that really matters - whether you're being Audited OR Inspected - you HAVE TO BE "Organised, Prepared & Ready!!"

Take a moment to think about how organised and ready you would be TODAY for a "Drop-in Supplier / Client Audit, Inspection Visit from the HSE, NRW or EA Visit - or even an Internal visit from the ISO Auditing Dept or MD....oooooooooh😂).

It’s both ours and our MD’s Lee Howells absolute pleasure to be able to give back to the community in our own little way. No family with children should be going without essentials and if we can support and help 1 Family with children each month….then that’s worth doing….and we know it gives Lee a great feeling when he does the shopping!! 👍👍👍
