I used to treat parts of my history like evidence against me…

Depression.

Divorce.

Bankruptcy.

Hiding because being visible felt unsafe.

A su***de attempt.

For years, some of those things felt like proof that I had failed at life.

I don’t believe that anymore.

Some things happened to me.

Some were choices I made.

Some were things I survived.

Some changed me.

None of them gets to be the final definition of me.

I have rebuilt more than once.

Not beautifully.

Not in a straight line.

But I did.

I loved again.

Worked again.

Wrote again.

Laughed again.

Built again.

Trusted again.

Shown my face again.

For a long time, I thought the scar was the story.

Now I think the tattoo is this:

I am still here.

I am more than the worst thing that ever happened to me.

And I am more than the worst thing I ever believed about myself.

If you’ve been “thinking about” the same business decision for six weeks…

you’re probably not thinking anymore.

You’re circling it.

Changing the price.
Reworking the offer.
Asking more people.
Waiting for more certainty.
Trying to convince yourself you want the thing you already know you don’t.

There’s a point where more thinking stops helping.

You don’t need another opinion.

You need to look at what you keep overriding.

That’s what I do.

Human Design.
Business decisions.
Less faffing about.

If you’ve got one decision you’re sick of dragging around, my Decision Audit is for exactly that.

My son Anthony is running the Manchester Marathon for his girlfriend, Katie ❤️

Katie lives with costochondritis, and Anthony sees first-hand how much pain it can cause and how much she still does for him despite it.

He wanted to do something for her, raise money for a good cause and, in his words, do it because he loves her.

He’s fundraising for Arthritis UK and I’m very proud of him for taking this on.

If you’d like to support him, the link is in my bio. And even a share would mean a lot ❤️

Go on, Ant. You’ve got this.

I think one of the rules I absorbed without meaning to is that serious work has to sound serious.

Polished.
Measured.
Professional.
Careful.

And preferably not say “f**k” too often.

I don’t believe that anymore.

Some of the smartest people I know are funny, blunt, sceptical, irreverent and still deeply serious about their work.

They can think deeply and still take the p**s.

They can say “I don’t know.”

They can disagree.

They can care without performing authority.

That’s the culture I want around my work.

Thoughtful people.
Questioning people.
People who trust their own judgement.
People who want depth without theatre.

I’m done treating “professional” as a tone of voice.

I care more about whether the thinking is good.

How long are you supposed to think about a business decision before you finally make it?

You research it.

Ask people you trust.

Compare what everyone else is doing.

Make a pros and cons list.

Then somehow end up with even more to think about.

We often assume that if we still don’t know what to do, we need more information.

Sometimes we already have plenty.

The better question is:

What are you waiting to know before you’ll let yourself decide?

There’s a difference between gathering useful information and delaying a decision until there’s no chance of getting it wrong.

Business rarely gives you that guarantee.

And sometimes the decision gets harder because there are too many outside voices involved.

If you’ve got one sitting in your head right now, you might already have enough information.

You may need to look at how you’re making the decision instead.
