My next project is for a client who happens to be my sister. She writes books in her spare time, but her first book features in this post. It's a book about our Mother, lost and found, family, trials and tribulations of life. It's beautifully written and I'm so proud of the way she has written it. I'm very proud of her. The request was for me to make a box that looks like a book and then display her book inside with the option to view the book through a glass or perspex front. I'm using recycled materials, as usual, so there's a lot of prep work. This is my progress to date.

Gluon today. Most elements are fully glued, only the arm rests to do. They need to be sanded and the edges need to be rounded before they are glued up on Monday. Final sanding and a Wax finish is what we have decided.

Most of what you see in the pictures clamped or dry fitted. That allows me to view and make adjustments or developments. I can mark out where the next cuts will be and reduce guessing where the cuts will be made. Modern of the serious processes are done. Sanding, gluing and clamping will happen tomorrow. What kind of finish will be the next consideration.

The arm rests are nearly complete. The first picture shows the armrests support, one is complete and the other still needs some work. A lot of work considering they will be hardly noticeable when the chair is completed. It's still worth pointing out that this chair will be made completely from offcuts from projects.

Still a little more to do for the process of the armrests. I'm making decisions on my creative journey to achieve the aesthetic outcome. More pics tomorrow.

The armrests are in full swing now. The materials theme is still the same. This whole project has been about using as much of the offcuts that I have in my stock area. The armrest and supporting pieces are still a work in progress. More pics tomorrow.

Think is a prototype, a first off. So, this is the opportunity to reflect on the design and creative outcome, thus far. I think I would make the legs slightly wider apart, this would give it a greater aesthetic outcome. However, several people have sat on the chair and it is really sturdy and given the thumbs up from the boss. Now, I'm creating and preparing the materials for the armrests.

The tasks today was to round off squared corners and edges with my palm router, reduce the length of each leg and dry fit the components and take note of any possible adjustments.

The legs and rails are glued up now. It still needs fine sanding, but that's another day. Still some gluing to do. The legs are too long for comfort, so I will do some research on anthropometric data and get some information. This week I will start thinking about the armrest and fix the backrest to the seat.

I use masking tape to work out angles and positioning. I found the rails a little awkward, but I got there eventually. Still at the dry fit stage. Monday we'll be gluing some elements of the build. I will Also plan the next stage of the build, arm rests.
