Ten Percent Foundation £1000 Donation to Blood Bikes

SERV Ox Bucks Berks N’hants Blood Bikes has been nominated for a £1,000 donation from the Ten Percent Foundation by Rebecca Hughes.

SERV OBN is a volunteer-run charity supporting NHS hospitals across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Northamptonshire. Its volunteers provide a rapid-response courier service, using a dedicated fleet of motorcycles and 4x4 vehicles to transport blood products and other urgent medical items to where they are needed.

The service operates outside normal working hours, helping hospitals avoid the cost of taxis and commercial couriers while ensuring essential supplies can continue to move quickly between NHS sites. The charity also supports neonatal units by collecting and delivering donated human milk.

SERV OBN’s work is carried out by trained volunteers.

MPs are calling for wider access to court transcripts. TP Transcription explains why court transcription needs modernisation, fairer pricing and human-led accuracy.

A recent Law Society Gazette report highlighted growing cross-party support for an Early Day Motion calling for free access to court transcripts across the justice system. The issue is not new, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore: court transcripts can be expensive, slow to obtain and difficult for ordinary people to access.

For lawyers, journalists, litigants in person, victims, appellants and members of the public trying to understand what happened in court, transcripts matter.

At present, anyone requesting a transcript of court or tribunal proceedings normally has to complete form EX107 and pay the cost of transcription. In some cases, judicial approval is also required.

It is so easy to ask AI to do everything for you at the moment, from writing articles (this is definitely not AI - my very sore left wrist can attest to this!) through to producing summaries of meetings, providing information and creating new documents and emails. All good and really helpful, and I am sure most organisations and individuals are now using AI on a very regular basis to improve their productivity and work levels. However, what about transcription?

We are finding time and again, that when business clients send over AI-produced transcriptions (academic clients rarely use it due to the lack of data security and institution prohibitions), the AI transcription doesn't just contain errors, which are understandable, it also contains hallucinations and thoughts from the imagination of the AI model being used.
