It is so easy to ask AI to do everything for you at the moment, from writing articles (this is definitely not AI - my very sore left wrist can attest to this!) through to producing summaries of meetings, providing information and creating new documents and emails. All good and really helpful, and I am sure most organisations and individuals are now using AI on a very regular basis to improve their productivity and work levels. However, what about transcription?

We are finding time and again, that when business clients send over AI-produced transcriptions (academic clients rarely use it due to the lack of data security and institution prohibitions), the AI transcription doesn't just contain errors, which are understandable, it also contains hallucinations and thoughts from the imagination of the AI model being used.

Ten Percent Foundation Donates £1,000 to Tiyeni

Who are Tiyeni?

Tiyeni is a UK-Malawian charity whose mission is to alleviate, and eventually to end, hunger and poverty in Malawi. They deliver training and support using a unique method of sustainable agriculture, Deep Bed Farming, directly to farmers and using a local Malawian team. All projects are delivered in response to farmer demand. So far they have reached over 37,000 farmers. Deep Bed Farming has wide-reaching effects that directly benefit the farmers. Within the first year of adoption, Deep Bed Farming heightens crop yields by 145% and increases farmers' incomes ninefold. Families who have adopted Deep Bed Farming eat an average of one extra meal every day compared to their peers using traditional farming methods.

The Ten Percent Foundation recently donated £1,000 to the Cleft Lip & Palate Association (CLAPA).

The Ten Percent Foundation recently donated £1,000 to CLAPA. The charity were nominated by Madhavi Seshu, a cleft consultant at Alder Hey Hospital. Madhavi sent a note to say: "can I nominate CLAPA , the cleft lip and palate association, which is a small national cleft charity which works with children and adults with a cleft in the UK. Their main focus is working with the families and they liaise with the clinicians and researchers in the UK as well. My work with them involves health inequalities in access to dental care for children with a cleft which is a frustrating problem for parents. They do events for families with a cleft like school changeover days, residential weekends, provide free feeding bottles for babies with a cleft, counselling and mentoring services and much more.

TP Transcription Limited recently donated £982.16 to the Ripple Effect (see below - 1% For the Planet donation)

The Ten Percent Foundation recently agreed to donate £982.16 to the Ripple Effect, an African charity dedicated to improving farming techniques in a number of African countries. We have a commitment to donate 1% of turnover for TP Transcription Limited to charities accredited by 1% for the Planet, which we subscribe to. As a result, this year some of our 10% of net profit donation has been donated directly from the company coffers to charities rather than via the usual channel of us donating via the Ten Percent Foundation. As a result of this, we have had to donate a rather odd amount - £982.16!
