She thought she needed a ChatGPT lesson. We found £15k she couldn't see.

She came to me to sort out AI and her social media. Twenty minutes in, it was obvious the tech wasn't the problem.

She was too close to her own business to see what she had.

So we shut the laptop and talked about the business instead.

What came out: she saves her clients around £15k a year compared with doing it in-house. That's her whole sales argument, and she wasn't using it.

We also found a new paid service she could add, and mapped out what her content should actually say.

No clever prompt finds that. AI can't create clarity. It can only support what's already there, which is why I start with the business and come to the tools second.

Spent 20 minutes arguing with ChatGPT today?

That was Client S.
Everything it gave her was generic crap.

She'd tried the courses. The prompts. The lead magnets. She was paying £74 a month for a CRM and still had no systems and no help.

She knew she was good at her job.
She just wasn't sure any more that she was cut out to work for herself.

It was never a prompt problem.
She was carrying the whole bloody business in her head.

So I let her unload all of it. Then we looked at what was shouting loudest, and whether it was actually what mattered most.

Now her invoices are chased. Her CRM holds everything. She starts the day knowing what needs her.

Her words, not mine:
"I've already implemented everything we discussed on the day. Even this morning the scheduled tasks have saved me loads of time and energy."

Paying £20 a month for ChatGPT or Claude and feeling quietly disappointed?

What I actually want is real learning and honest conversation about AI. What it can do and what it can't.

Not hype. Not fear. Not someone selling you a shortcut.

Just what people are actually doing with it, what worked, what didn't, and the questions you haven't found a decent answer to yet.

There is no daft question in that room. Bring the one that feels too basic. Especially that one.

You don't need to turn up knowing what you're talking about. That's rather the point of learning.

I'm fed up with every Tom, Dick and Harry calling themselves an AI strategist because they connected their favourite chatbot to their email.

But you shouldn't have to take my word for who's real. So don't.

Ask anyone selling you AI advice three questions:

What problem are we solving, and is AI actually needed?

What happens to my data, and who checks when it gets things wrong?

How will we tell whether this is working, including time and cost?

If they dodge those questions, don't rush to hand over your money.

And nobody has to use AI. You don't owe anyone a yes because someone's told you you'll be left behind. If you do want it, do it well, safely, and for the right reasons for you.

There are no words to describe a room full of over 50 women coming together and celebrating speaking.

I am lucky enough to call Emma a work and business friend. Being able to help her bring this to life and bring her vision to fruition was amazing.

Bringing out the old event management skillset was so fun…good to know I can still ride the bike!
