The clocks went back yesterday... a timely reminder that accurate timekeeping matters for your fire alarm system, too. 🕒

Correct panel settings help keep an accurate record of alarm activations, faults and system tests, making it easier to review events when needed.

BS 5839-1 recommends checking the panel clock during every service visit and adjusting it where necessary.

Our qualified engineers carry out this check as part of your Planned Preventative Maintenance, making any necessary adjustments and documenting them in your fire log book.

A new onion storage facility needs fire detection just like any other building, but the dusty environment at Moulton Bulb meant standard smoke detectors weren’t the most practical solution. 🧅

We worked with Patol to extend the aspirating smoke detection already used across the site into the new facility, creating a system suited to the conditions while making ongoing cleaning and maintenance easier.

What do the different colours inside fire sprinkler heads actually mean? 🔥💧

Each glass bulb contains coloured liquid, with the colour corresponding to a particular temperature rating. When the surrounding temperature reaches the sprinkler’s specified level, the liquid expands and the bulb breaks, allowing that individual sprinkler head to activate.

When these systems need servicing or testing, a little coordination can be important.

TP Fire & Security doesn’t install fire sprinklers – they’re handled by specialist contractors. However, our team can work alongside them to isolate the fire alarm system where required while testing takes place.

Once they’re finished, we make sure the alarm is taken off test and returned to full working order.

A coordinated approach helps make sure every system is ready to do its job when needed.
