It's fantastic to see the Heartland Cares project come to life. This is a project that the SKS team have been working on for a long time and feel very passionate about.

Please give the Heartland Cares page a follow and go over to visit them on LinkedIn too. https://www.linkedin.com/company/heartland-cares/

Hello and welcome to Heartland Cares 👋

This is our first post, just to say hello and introduce ourselves to our local communities in Rannoch & Tummel and Dunkeld & Birnam.

Heartland Cares is a care company with a difference.

Our aim is to help people stay independent and live well at home by connecting them with the support they need, right where they live.

From late 2026, we’ll be delivering care and support services for and in partnership with the communities of Rannoch & Tummel and Dunkeld & Birnam.

We’re now starting to build our local team of staff and volunteers. Our locally based Care Connectors will provide professional, regulated Care at Home support, while also helping people connect with volunteers for other kinds of help such as hospital transport and befriending (services you may already be benefiting from).

Because our team will be local, the support we arrange will be thoughtful, personal, and understand how communities work.

We’re currently working on our website and will share it here as soon as it’s ready, with more information about services, volunteering, and opportunities to get involved.

🌟 Trustee Opportunity: Community-Led Care Initiative 🌟

Over the past year, SKS have been working on a project to help improve social care in remote rural areas. Now, the project is looking for people to join the Board of Trustees and help lead this change.

This is a unique chance to make a real difference in North Perthshire by supporting a new, community-led social enterprise focused on delivering better care at home. The role is voluntary, with expenses covered, and requires around 1–2 days a month.

If you or someone you know has skills in business development, health and social care, finance, HR, or community work, please check out the full details and how to apply https://www.sksscotland.co.uk/trustees/

This is an interesting development: Public Health Scotland and the Institute of Health Equity have launched the Collaboration for Health Equity in Scotland, working with Aberdeen City, North Ayrshire, and South Lanarkshire to tackle health inequalities.

By addressing the root causes of poor health—such as poverty, housing, and employment—this initiative highlights the power of local action and national collaboration.

This really resonates with our work on community-led care at home in Perthshire, where local solutions are key to ensuring people can access the support they need in rural and remote areas. Looking forward to seeing how this approach develops!

A breathtaking reminder of the beauty (and remoteness!) of rural life.

When we say we cover remote and rural areas, we’re not joking—we love it! This week we've been continuing our work on a community-led care project to make sure people can access the support they need, no matter how far off the beaten track they are.
