We love the opportunities we have to meet people face to face and explain the stories behind Longdown English wines. And most importantly of course, ensure everyone gets a chance to try the wines themselves. 🤩 We enjoyed the Kingsgate Wines Provisions Garden Hang recently (thank you Kelly | The Wi******er Fork for the pics!), and we have so many plans in the offing for other collabs and events, it would be great to see you there. Keep up to date with the latest from Longdown by giving us a follow (if you haven’t already), check the website (link in bio ☝️), or sign up for our enewsletter (link on website). Or all of the above. As these occasions and drinking lovely English wine is often best served with great friends - tag them below 👇 to make sure they are in the know too. 🤩🥂

The Pinot Noir Grapes used in our English Sparkling white and rosé are undergoing changes that indicate harvest is not far away. Sugar is now increasing in the grapes, and the acidity is dropping, with the aromas and flavours developing nicely. This stage is called ‘veraison’ and is apparent in the change of the colour of the grapes. From green, to red, to a beautiful deep purple that can almost look black. Not all grapes make it - some of the green grapes in the photo may not change at this stage, and some bunches may be at different stages depending on when they developed - as you can see from the mainly green bunch in the background. This means that we could carry out more than one picking in this vineyard. An exciting first harvest for Longdown. Watch this space!

Taking inspiration from Ancient Greek philosophy (thank you Epictetus🏺), may seem a bit hardcore for a Monday morning 😁. But we felt it was particularly apt as we wait, poised, for the first Longdown harvest 🍇. This process can’t be rushed. We have to wait for nature to do what it does best and work alongside it, to achieve the best results. And as we reflect back on the last year of establishing and growing Longdown, it feels very similar. At times it’s been a whirlwind of learning, meeting people, visiting new places, facing new and unexpected challenges and reaping the reward of satisfied customers. Sometimes it’s hard to appreciate everything that’s been achieved, especially with so much still to do. But this is a great moment to stop and reflect. At Longdown, we are on a journey we feel very passionate about - and it is a pleasure to share with you.

And the tent is up! Took us a couple of tries but we got there eventually. We now have a lovely shaded spot right next to the baby vines…which is much needed in this weather! And it has a fantastic view which we took advantage of last night enjoying the eclipse with a few bottles of Longdown English Sparkling🥂🍾 We hope to be able to share this space with you soon ❤️
