Running a business comes with a lot of responsibilities. Are your financial compliance obligations all under control?

We help businesses stay on top of their financial obligations, taking care of the essential accountancy work so you can focus on running your business.

Our support includes:
• Annual accounts: Preparing your accounts and ensuring the relevant filing requirements are met.

• Tax returns: Managing Corporation Tax and Self Assessment returns, helping you meet your obligations and understand what you owe.

• VAT returns: Preparing and submitting VAT returns and helping you stay on top of your reporting responsibilities.

• Payroll: Managing payroll calculations, payments and the associated reporting requirements.

• Companies House filings: Helping ensure the necessary company information and statutory filings are submitted on time.

• Ongoing support: Keeping track of important deadlines, answering your questions and helping you understand your responsibilities as your business evolves.

Compliance should be more than a last-minute scramble to meet a deadline. With the right support and processes in place, you can have greater confidence that your financial responsibilities are being taken care of.

The power of 1%: small changes = meaningful results.

You don't always need a big change to make a difference to your business.

Imagine your business has annual sales of £2 million. Even just a 1% increase in sales would give you an extra £20,000 per year.

So, how would we tackle this at CRC?

We'd start by looking at your numbers to understand how your business is performing, identify where there may be opportunities to improve and help you decide which changes could have the biggest impact.

Small improvements elsewhere could make a difference too:
- Pricing: Reviewing your prices to better reflect rising costs.
- Costs: Finding £1,000 a month in unnecessary spending could save £12,000 a year.
- Productivity: Saving just 30 minutes a day could free up more than 120 hours over a year.
- Profitability: Understanding which products or services generate the best margins.

If you could improve one area of your business, where would you start?

What does a £2-an-hour pay rise really cost a business?

One client was considering increasing hourly pay to remain competitive.

£2 doesn't sound particularly dramatic.

But across approximately 589 working hours each week, the annual impact quickly becomes more than £60,000.

That's before considering any associated employment costs.

The question therefore wasn't simply:
"Can we afford to pay another £2 an hour?"

It was:
"What needs to change elsewhere in the business to fund it sustainably?"

That's the difference between recording the numbers and using them to make better business decisions.

Orkney Careers Fair 2026! 👋

We had a brilliant time meeting some of the 1000 students and young people who came along to find out more about their next career steps.

It was great to chat to so many people interested in finance and business, including our Junior Bookkeeper role, work experience and degree apprenticeship opportunities.

🧮 And the speed calculator challenge was a hit! Jesse from Orkney Builders clocked an impressive 11.71 seconds – but CRC's Calvin Cooper still holds the record at a jaw-dropping 5.57 seconds! 😂

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our stand!
