Visiting the historic Chiesa di San Francesco d’Assisi was a truly enchanting experience. We were especially fortunate to witness the quiet preparations for a wedding, adding an unexpected touch of romance and warmth to our visit. ✨

Amidst the timeless beauty of Matera, the ancient stone, the sacred surroundings, and the anticipation of a new beginning came together in a moment we will remember fondly.

Basilica of Saint Nicholas (Basilica di San Nicola) is the famous Romanesque church in Bari, Puglia, dedicated to St Nicholas, the saint associated with the origins of Santa Claus.

✨ Why it’s special

* St Nicholas’s relics are kept in the crypt beneath the church.
* It was built in the 11th–12th centuries and is one of Puglia’s finest examples of Romanesque architecture.
* The crypt is particularly important to both Catholic and Orthodox Christians.
* It sits in Bari Vecchia, the atmospheric old town right by the Adriatic.
