Celebrating Alice's Journey 🎉

From returnship to senior leadership.

When Alice joined the Home Office through a returnship programme after a career break, she was looking for a route back into tech.

Today, several years after her successful return, she's a Grade 6 leader, shaping work with national impact.

As Ashleigh Alexander from the Government Digital Service recently reflected:

The EDF Returner Programme is a 6‑month paid returnship designed to support professionals in making a flexible, supported return to work. 💚 5 lessons from three successful returners

At our Success Stories panel today, we heard from three inspiring returners whose career breaks ranged from 5 to 14 years.

Their circumstances were different, but they all had one thing in common: they joined the Career Returners Accelerator Programme to help rebuild confidence, recognise their strengths and take purposeful steps forward 🚀

As Nalini shared, "It's really important to be part of a group or a community to support your return-to-work journey."

And Camille reflected, "When you get clarity, you get more confident naturally."
