That's another NANOG completed! Thank you to the organisers for a great event this week in Seattle.

Inga and Jennifer met with Randy Johnson from new LINX member network DQE Communications, now live and peering at LINX NoVA!

It's been a busy few days for the team on the ground with the news breaking earlier this week regarding our 'no charge promotion' for new ports and peering at LINX NoVA - find out more https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0vX0960

Until next time NANOG!

Speaker Announcement for : Mike Blanche!

Europe's Digital Networks Act — and its impacts beyond the EU

"In January 2026, the European Commission released the draft text of the Digital Networks Act, which contains substantial proposed changes to the regulatory landscape for all types of network operators across the EU. This talk explains the proposed changes for several areas of regulation, including scope of who is to be regulated, replacing the Open Internet Regulation and its impact on Net Neutrality, new telecoms regulator involvement in ecosystem cooperation across a broad range of technology companies, changes to IP interconnection regulation, and more. These changes will have impacts beyond the EU's borders. The talk concludes with advice on how you can get involved and provide feedback to policymakers on these proposals."

We've recently completed two projects to upgrade the infrastructure behind LINX.

With our NTP servers and management and OSS kit reaching the end of their supported life, the team have refreshed both, from the time servers that keep our network in sync to the kit we use to run the estate.

Here's what went into both projects - https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0vTP690

LINX completed an NTP server refresh and a management network upgrade. A look at what went into both projects.

*Traffic Stat News* LINX Manchester is now a 1Tb Internet Exchange Point (IXP) for the UK 🤩 🇬🇧 continuing to establish itself as a key interconnection hub for the North.

As the IXP evolves and grows, we are finding so are the traffic patterns 📈.

This new maximum traffic peak, tipping LINX Manchester over the 1Tb mark occurred on a Monday morning when everyone was logging on after maybe a week off on half term and a bank holiday. As businesses rely more and more on online services, new traffic peaks start to appear in addition to the evening peaks, driven by online streaming.

Here at LINX we are so proud of this milestone as we continue to serve the UK's Internet as Critical National Infrastructure.

The future is bright for digital growth in the UK, with more and more large global LINX members connecting in Manchester to regionalise their network traffic to the North.

Jennifer Holmes, CEO of LINX, said: “We recognize that network operators are managing a complex environment right now, from capacity planning to cost control. As a member-owned organization, our role is to listen carefully to the feedback from our membership and monitor trends in the industry, acting where we can. This initiative is about supporting our community in a practical way—creating space for networks to plan, grow, and adapt without immediate pressure.”

10 Days to go until !

Have you registered? - https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0vMSXT0

You will have noticed we are trialling a new format of meeting. So what's the difference?

Day 1 - We will be starting the day earlier, meaning more networking time, more time to hear from our industry experts and we have our evening social to top off a busy day! A time to relax, catch up with colleagues and maybe join us in watching the first World Cup match!

Day 2 - At a different venue (etc.venues, 8 Fenchurch Place), our second day will be all about learning, with our free SNT BGP & Peering training course and LINX workshops, networking with peers and getting in front of the LINX team to ask all your questions in a smaller surrounding.

Remember if you can't join us in person, there is always the webcast. This has moved to LINX Community, so make sure you are registered for LINX126 and have access to our LINX Community Platform - https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0vMSXT0.

2 weeks to go unil !

Here's some handy reminders...

1. Make sure you are registered for a start (and that includes registering for the webcast) - https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0vGjZL0
2. If you are watching via the webcast - make sure you have access to LINX Community as thats where the stream will be hosted.
3. There is a new format for this event meaning we start a lot earlier on day 1 (10:30am), and we have a second venue for day 2 (etc 8 Fenchurch Place).
4. We will of course have the option to watch the world cup opening match at the social - but this wont affects our non football fans as it will be in a separate area.
5. We've got some great workshops, training and networking opportunities on day 2, so make sure you pop along and book in some time with your LINX contacts.
