Something a little different is coming from this year's honey harvest...

After the wonderful amount of cut comb our bees have produced for us this year, we've been thinking about how else we could share some of that beautiful honeycomb.

At one of our apiary sites, we noticed we were getting some particularly lovely, clear honey alongside the comb.

So we thought… why not bring the two together?

We have a small batch of Chunk Honey. It's a lovely combination of the texture and character of honeycomb with the smooth, golden honey around it. Another little journey from hive to home. 🐝

πŸ•―οΈπŸ Why don't we just make any candle we can?

You may have noticed we've started organising our beeswax candles into a few different collections:

πŸ•―οΈEveryday – simple candles made to be used and enjoyed regularly.

🐝 Bee Collection – candles inspired by the bees, the hive and the reason we have beeswax in the first place.

🌿 Countryside – inspired by the things we see around us here in Lincolnshire, from pinecones and acorns to seasonal shapes and wildlife.

✨ Modern Living– more contemporary designs for those who love natural beeswax but prefer a simpler, modern look.

There's actually a reason behind the choices.

We don't choose candle designs at random, and we don't want to make something simply because it's another shape we can put beeswax into.

Beeswax is an incredible natural material, and it comes from the hard work of the bees. We want the things we make from it to be beautiful, useful and something people genuinely want to have in their homes.

We have some new additions we are adding to the website this week too, so keep an eye out for those.

🐝 Take a closer look at what's happening at the hive entrance…

Today we've spotted, blue, yellow and orange pollen, coming back into the hives. 🌼

Pollen can come in all sorts of colours depending on the flowers the bees have been visiting, making the entrance one of the best places to watch what's happening in the landscape around the apiary.

But the bees are also showing us that the season is changing.

We're starting to see workers and guard bees pushing drones out of the hive. As the colony moves towards autumn, its priorities change and the workers become less tolerant of drones.

It's fascinating to watch these seasonal changes happening right in front of us.

From colourful pollen coming home to the changing behaviour of the colony, there's always something to notice when you stop and watch the hive. πŸ’›πŸ

You've watched our bees through the seasons… but do you know how they actually make honey?

We still get asked this question, and honestly, when you break it down, it's quite incredible.

It starts with a flower. 🌼

The bees collect nectar, bring it back to the hive, work together to transform it, fan their wings to reduce the moisture, and store the finished honey in their beautiful wax comb.

Then, when it's ready and the bees have enough for themselves, we carefully harvest it.

I've written about the whole journey in our latest blog:

How Is Honey Made?

From flower β†’ bee β†’ hive β†’ honeycomb β†’ jar. 🍯

A little reminder that there's an incredible story behind every jar of honey.

From Hive to Home. πŸπŸ’›

πŸ‚πŸ From the summer work of the bees to the warmth of an autumn home.

The bees have spent the summer working through the seasons, collecting nectar and producing the beeswax that becomes part of their hive.

Now we're taking that beeswax and turning it into something beautiful for the home.

Acorns, pinecones, pumpkins, tapers and tealights β€” each one handmade with the aim of making the most of this incredible natural material.

For us, hive to home isn't just about where something starts. It's about appreciating what the bees have worked so hard to create and giving it a new purpose.

Because if we're going to use beeswax, we want to make something beautiful enough to celebrate the work that went into it. πŸπŸ•―οΈπŸ‚

We was gifted this little lovely bee today from a stall holder we know, so sweet.

So what shall we call her?

Two apiary sites.
One season.
And look at the difference. 🍯🐝

We packaged another batch of our Lincolnshire cut comb honey today, this time from two of our apiary sites at Green Compost.

What really caught our eye was the colour.
One is beautifully light, while the other is noticeably darker. It's a lovely reminder that honey isn't made to a recipe.
The flowers the bees are visiting, the surrounding landscape, the weather and even the location of the hive can all influence the honey they produce.

Same bees. Same season. Different location. And yet another little reminder of why we love keeping bees β€” every harvest tells a slightly different story.

We've been making something a little different... 🐝🍯

A little pot made from beeswax, created to hold one of our mini jars of Lincolnshire honey.

The honey comes from our family hives, and the pot is handmade by us using natural beeswax.

Honey from our hives.
Beeswax from our bees.

A little hive-to-home gift, now available on our website. Link in our story

Would you keep the pot once you've enjoyed the honey?
