Men's Health Week focuses on the health risks common in sectors like construction, oil and gas, renewables, and engineering.

Working in these industries comes with unique pressures - stress, fatigue, dehydration, and the physical toll of demanding work.

The challenge? Many of these health risks can go unspoken.
At F.E.S. (EX), our teams work in some of the most challenging environments - classified zones, and high-pressure operations.
We've learned that looking after health isn't a nice-to-have. It's operational excellence.

A team struggling in silence is a team at risk.

That's why we've embedded health and wellbeing into how we work:
🔸Designated Mental Health First Aiders office and site based
🔸Employee benefits including access to free counciling, financial support and other measures
🔸Bike 2 work scheme

When your team is well-supported, properly rested, and knows they matter - that's when you see best performance. That's when you build the strongest operations.

This Men's Health Week, we're celebrating the teams and organisations that get this right. The ones that understand that supporting health is supporting excellence.

Here's to teams that look after each other.

June is Pride Month, and at F.E.S (EX) we celebrate and support everyone for who they are.

Inclusion isn't something you do one month a year. It's about building a workplace where people feel respected, valued, and safe to be themselves.

Where your identity doesn't determine whether you belong or how you're treated.

In sectors like engineering and hazardous area compliance, we need sharp minds, technical excellence, and teams that communicate honestly. That only happens when people feel comfortable showing up as their authentic selves.

At F.E.S (EX), we're committed to creating that environment - every day. Because the strongest teams are built on respect, trust, and genuine inclusion.

June is National Safety Month - marking its 30th anniversary this year.

For three decades, the conversation around workplace safety has evolved.
Awareness has grown. Culture has deepened.

And yet, here's the uncomfortable truth: Having a safety policy doesn't mean you have a safety culture.

Culture is what happens when nobody's watching.

🔸 It's when a technician feels confident raising a concern without fear of retaliation.
🔸 It's when leadership genuinely acts on near-misses - not to blame, but to learn.
🔸 It's when the safe path is the fast path, not the bureaucratic one.
🔸 It's when people believe their organisation actually cares if they go home safe.

At F.E.S. (EX), safety isn't something we do - it's how we operate.

Every decision, every procedure, every conversation is filtered through one question: "What could go wrong here, and how do we prevent it?"

That's the culture we've built. And it shows in our results.

This National Safety Month, we're asking: what does your safety culture actually look like? Not on paper. In practice.

Because the month ends, but the culture remains.

Leadership should never stop learning. 🎓

Congratulations to our Managing Director, James Ward, on achieving his CompEx Ex14 qualification.

CompEx Ex14 is traditionally associated with plant owners and operators. But IEC 60079-14 defines responsibility by control of work - not asset ownership.

That distinction matters.

It means a contractor holding Ex14 isn't just executing tasks. They can act as the Responsible Person for their scope - owning decisions, reviewing documentation, and providing the kind of oversight that clients increasingly require on the contractor side.

Without it, contractors often install to drawings they didn't verify, rely on client interpretations, and assume risk without the authority to challenge it.

With it:
âś… You can formally challenge poor specifications
âś… You have evidence-based defence if defects originate upstream
âś… You can offer Responsible Person oversight, inspection review and compliance management - not just labour
âś… Liability is clear, because competence is demonstrated

This is particularly valuable on EPC, brownfield, shutdown and modification projects - where the person in control of the work carries the risk.

With James at Ex14 level, that competence sits at the top of our organisation.
Which is exactly where governance should start.

At F.E.S (EX), we don't just deliver projects - we uphold a promise. 🤝

Our promise is that every site, every asset, and every solution we touch is guided by our core values:

🔶 Safety
🔶 Quality
🔶 Integrity
🔶 Honesty

In an industry where risk is real and lives can depend on getting things right, clients need more than a contractor - they need a partner they can trust.

From remote COMAH sites to critical national infrastructure, our clients return because they know they are getting more than technical compliance. They are getting integrity embedded into every step.
When the stakes are high, values matter more than ever.

Today we’re attending the Water Equipment Show 2026.

The water sector plays a critical role in national infrastructure, and with increasing pressure around resilience, compliance, efficiency, and ageing assets, dependable engineering support has never been more important.

Over the past 12+ months, F.E.S. (EX) has been supporting projects within the sector, helping clients maintain safe, compliant, and reliable operations through specialist electrical and hazardous area expertise.

Events like today are valuable because they bring together the people tackling the industry’s biggest operational challenges.

If you’re attending, we’d be pleased to connect.

At F.E.S. (EX), we know that true workplace safety goes beyond physical risk - mental wellbeing matters too.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re highlighting the importance of looking after our people both on and off site.

Whether working in high-risk environments or supporting operations behind the scenes, stress, fatigue, and pressure can all take their toll.

That’s why we believe in creating a culture where speaking up is encouraged, support is available, and no one feels they have to manage alone.

Safe teams are supported teams - and that is the foundation of every successful project we deliver.

Electrical & Instrumentation isn’t just about installation - it’s about control, visibility, and long-term integrity.

In high-risk environments, poorly designed or maintained systems don’t just cause inefficiencies…
they create risk.

At F.E.S. (EX), our Electrical & Instrumentation services are built around full lifecycle support — from design and verification through to testing, inspection, and ongoing maintenance.

Because getting it right at the start isn’t enough.

âś” Design that aligns with real operational conditions
âś” Verification of existing systems to identify hidden risks
âś” Testing & inspection to maintain compliance (BS7671)
âś” Ongoing maintenance to prevent deterioration and failure

Electrical systems naturally degrade over time - and without structured testing and inspection, defects go unnoticed until they become costly or dangerous.

That’s why we don’t just deliver projects -
we ensure systems remain safe, compliant, and fully operational long after handover.

Hazardous Area Compliance doesn’t fail because data doesn’t exist.
It fails because it isn’t accessible, aligned, or trusted.

That’s where ExTrace® comes in.

Developed by engineers, ExTrace® provides a live, structured view of hazardous area assets - linking inspections, documentation, and compliance into one system.

Because most sites don’t struggle with having information.
They struggle with:

🔸 Keeping it up to date
🔸 Connecting it to physical assets
🔸 Evidencing compliance when it matters

ExTrace® shifts that.

âś” Live asset register
âś” Full inspection history
âś” Instant access to documentation
âś” Clear, auditable compliance

Accessible both on-site and remotely.

At F.E.S. (EX), we see ExTrace® as more than software - it’s a core part of a controlled, evidence-based Compliance safety system.

If you needed to evidence compliance today - how quickly could you do it?
