Look around your home - are you overloading plug sockets?

Stick to one adaptor per socket and avoid plugging adaptors into each other. Bar adaptors are generally better to use than block adaptors. Extension leads have a limit on how many amps they can take, make sure you’re not overloading them.

The Grenfell Tower investigation really puts into perspective the sheer scale of what happened — and how long the search for accountability has taken.

According to this latest update, the Metropolitan Police investigation has examined around 15,000 individuals and 700 organisations, with 57 individuals and 20 organisations identified as suspects for potential criminal offences.

The investigation has involved 165 million electronic files, 14,400 statements and more than 27,000 exhibits, with potential offences including corporate manslaughter, gross negligence manslaughter, misconduct in public office, fraud and health and safety matters.

Nine years after 72 people lost their lives, the process is still ongoing.

For those of us working in fire safety, Grenfell must remain a permanent reminder that regulations, competent workmanship, proper fire strategies and accountability are not simply paperwork. Decisions made about the safety of buildings can have devastating consequences.

Hopefully, when the investigation and CPS process are complete, the families and survivors will finally see proper answers and accountability.

A warning to smokers... 🚬

Firefighters are urging smokers to stub out and discard of ci******es properly after the back of a house caught alight in Loughton this evening.

A cigarette was discarded into a plastic container which started the fire, spreading to the fence and small BBQ cylinder, causing the fire to spread to the back of the property.

Watch Manager Glenn Jackson said: "If you smoke, please make sure you stub out and discard of your cigarette property. It only takes a small ember from the lit cigarette to start a fire. "

We attended a fire safety industry event today focused on one key message: competence and doing the right thing.

It reinforced something we’ve always believed fire safety isn’t just about qualifications or ticking boxes. It’s about applying knowledge properly, taking responsibility, and making sure the work we carry out genuinely protects people.

A big takeaway for us was the importance of maintaining high standards at all times. Even when things get busy, there’s no room for cutting corners in this industry.

We also took a lot from discussions around working more closely with our clients helping them understand their fire safety systems, their responsibilities, and how everything works to keep people safe.

We’ll be taking this forward into the months ahead, continuing to improve and making sure we deliver the highest standard on every job.
