This project at Dunham Massey National Trust saw tree cladding being collected by Touch Wood and then repurposed as accessible planters for use back at Dunham for the pupils of Piper Hill school.
A true example of the circular economy in action! ♻️

🪵 EMERGE Touch Wood is EMERGE’s wood‑recycling sister organisation, whose project with National Trust estate Dunham Massey perfectly encapsulates our “co‑operate to change the world” theme…
🌳 When timber tree protectors at Dunham Massey reached the end of their original use, they were reclaimed by Touch Wood and transformed into wheelchair-accessible ♿ planters as part of a partnership project involving SEN students from Piper Hill High School in Wythenshawe, Manchester. 🎓
The finished planters were returned to Dunham Massey, where the recycled timber found a new purpose in the very place it came from – with the Piper Hill pupils involved in the construction, filling, planting and maintenance of the planters.
The project brought together environmental sustainability 🌿, accessibility ♿, education 📚 and community partnership, turning waste into opportunity and creating social value alongside environmental benefit.✨
