Whip-cracking fun in Gran Canaria! 🤠🗺️
Thinking back to last year when I visited the Museo Elder de la Ciencia y la Tecnología in Gran Canaria and explored their incredible En busca de los tesoros perdidos exhibition. If you are an Indiana Jones fan, this was absolute perfection!
Here is why this exhibition was such a brilliant adventure:
• 🎬 Movie Magic: The space was absolutely packed with iconic movie props, alongside exact replicas of things like the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail. The whole space was incredibly well dressed and themed to make you feel like you were stepping straight onto the set.
• 🤫 Filming Secrets: It was not just about looking at cool artifacts; it brilliantly broke down the science and filming secrets behind the movies, explaining the real physics behind those famous stunts and the history that inspired the adventures.
• ✋ Interactive Exhibits: True to a great science museum, it featured fantastic interactive exhibits that brought the movie magic and the thrill of archaeology right to your fingertips.
• 🎟️ Unbeatable Value: The absolute best part? This entire experience was completely included in the standard museum ticket price, making it an incredible bonus to an already great day out.
Such a beautifully executed exhibition that proved X never, ever marks the spot! ❌🐍

🪁 Look to the Skies, Yorkshire! The Bridlington Kite Festival is HERE! 🪁
Looking for the ultimate weekend plans? Stop scrolling! The Bridlington Kite Festival is happening this weekend over on the Sewerby cliffs, and it is the absolute perfect free day out for the whole family! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦✨

The original kings and queens of gossip! 🪶☕
Throwing it back to 2024 when I took a trip to Stratford-upon-Avon to catch The School for Scandal at the RSC. It was a brilliantly sharp, vibrant revival of Sheridan’s classic comedy of manners!
Here is why this production was such a joy to watch:
• 📱 The Relevance: An 18th-century play entirely built around rumors, fake news, and ruined reputations? It felt incredibly current and perfectly mirrored our modern era of social media and cancel culture!
• 👗 The Aesthetic: The set and costumes were visually stunning, beautifully blending Georgian extravagance with a modern, celebrity-obsessed energy that popped off the stage.
• 😂 The Wit: The cast delivered that razor-sharp, fast-paced dialogue perfectly, proving that a brilliant script stays genuinely hilarious even centuries later.
A fantastic reminder that human nature—and our absolute love for a juicy rumor—hasn’t changed one bit! 🎭✨

All aboard for a genuinely joyful night out! ⚓🛳️
I headed down to The Core Theatre this week to catch Solihull Theatre Company’s (STC) production of Anything Goes, and it is the absolute perfect pick-me-up!

Stepping straight into the Dreamhouse! 💖🎀
Thinking back to this time last year when I headed down to the Design Museum to check out the Barbie exhibition. It was an absolutely stunning celebration of an icon!
Here is why this exhibition was so brilliantly put together:
• 🎬 Perfect Timing: They smartly rode right on the coattails of the massive Barbie movie success, capturing all of that global pink hype perfectly.
• 🎨 The Aesthetic: The theming and design were incredibly beautiful, totally immersing you in decades of fashion, history, and pop culture.
• 📸 UGC Heaven: They absolutely nailed the interactive photo ops! There were endless spots perfectly set up for user-generated content, making it just as much fun for grown-ups to snap pictures as it was for the kids.
• 🛍️ Smart Retail: Having a completely separate Barbie shop was a fantastic commercial move to capture all that post-exhibit excitement and boost spending.
A beautifully designed day out completely packed with girl power! 💅✨

Gird your loins, London! 👠✨
I recently headed down to the Dominion Theatre to see The Devil Wears Prada Musical in the West End, and it is an absolute must-see for anyone who loves fashion, sass, and a spectacular night out!
Here is why this show is completely ruling the runway right now:
• 🌟 The Broadway Legend: Having the iconic Vanessa Williams stepping into the designer heels of Miranda Priestly is a stroke of casting genius. She brings so much power, glamour, and fierce energy to the role—she is entirely captivating on stage, and I LOVE HER!!!
• 📸 The Aesthetic: The production team knows exactly what the audience wants! They have set up incredible high-fashion displays around the venue, creating gorgeous opportunities for UGC (user-generated content) everywhere you look. You cannot help but strike a pose before the curtain even goes up.
• 🍿 The Timing: Whether intentional or just brilliant luck, the musical’s run has managed to perfectly coincide with the massive cinema release of The Devil Wears Prada 2! It is the ultimate time to celebrate this iconic story (and yes, I am absolutely heading to the cinema to see the film this week too!).
It is a fabulous, fiercely fun night out that never goes out of style. That’s all. 💅🥂

Cymru, coal, and choral singing! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🎶
I headed down to the Birmingham Hippodrome last night to catch the Welsh National Opera’s Blaze of Glory! and it was an absolutely stunning, heartwarming piece of theatre.
Here is why this production hits all the right notes:
• ⚒️ The Story: Set in a 1950s Welsh mining community, it follows a group of miners who start a male voice choir to boost local morale following a fatal site accident. It is moving, funny, and incredibly uplifting.
• 🇬🇧 The Resonance: The themes feel wonderfully accessible and deeply relevant. For a UK audience with a history and economy so fundamentally built on mining, this story of community resilience and solidarity strikes a powerful chord.
• 🌊 The Double Bill: The WNO is brilliantly touring this production alongside a gripping reimagining of Wagner’s absolute classic, The Flying Dutchman. It makes for an incredibly strong and contrasting season!

Thinking back to seeing *The House Party* last year, and what a phenomenal piece of theatre it was. When you bring together three absolute powerhouse companies—Chichester Festival Theatre, Headlong, and Frantic Assembly—you know you are in for something completely special.
Here is why this production stood out so brilliantly:
* 🔥 **A Bold Reimagining:** Taking Strindberg’s classic *Miss Julie* and giving it a completely modern retelling is no easy feat, but this version was incredibly brave, fresh, and relevant. It took the original themes and made them feel painfully current.
* 💥 **The Collaboration:** The combined energy of these three companies meant the production was visually striking, physically dynamic, and narratively gripping from the very first beat.
* 📚 **The Educational Reach:** Beyond what happened on stage, the sheer, impressive amount of educational material they churned out alongside the show was absolutely top-tier. It is a fantastic way to engage students, break down the text, and make classic theatre genuinely accessible and exciting for a younger audience.
