Featuring in the September jewellery sale lot number 1 - ruby, sapphire, diamond & garnet set dragonfly brooch 💎

Insect motifs in Victorian jewellery.
During the Victorian era there was a trend for naturalistic designs, particularly in jewellery. Before the advent of the traditional engagement ring, the brooch was extremely popular, widely worn and often given as a meaningful gift.
The theme of insects chimed perfectly with contemporary taste. Butterflies, dragonflies, beetles & bees, even spiders or flies all featured & each with a different symbolism.
From a Butterfly signifying spiritual growth and rebirth, to Bees symbolising industry and hard work. A Dragonfly was seen as transformative, agile, and signified being ready for change or wishing the wearer ease through transition

Appearing in our September auction (commencing 15th of September) we have a Ross Xtralux 50mm (5cm) f2 LTM Lens

This lens was made by Ross London in the late 1940’s and it is rumoured that only 20 were made due to poor demand at the time. Which is why it todays market it so highly sought after.

The lens was made with the Leica threaded mount (LTM/L39) and came in two options - one with a collapsible barrel and with a rigid barrel. This example has the collapsible barrel, and is complete with the focussing mount.
