⚠️ CHEAP SOLAR CAN BECOME AN EXPENSIVE MISTAKE ⚠️

Recently, i Spy Solar has been called out to a number of poorly installed and sometimes dangerous solar systems across Cornwall. The photos show some of the problems we’ve found.

Customers have spent their hard earned money expecting a safe, reliable system, only to discover faults that cost even more to put right.

Some of the issues we’ve seen include:

❌ Panel clamps overtightened or incorrectly positioned, risking damage to the panels.
❌ Mounting rails positioned outside the panel manufacturer’s permitted fixing zones.
❌ Broken roof tiles left behind, leaving roofs vulnerable to leaks.
❌ Loose, unsupported cables and poorly secured electrical connections, creating potential safety risks.
❌ Inverters poorly matched to the system.
❌ Panels coming loose or coming off in strong winds a serious danger to people and property.

Some of these callouts have involved low cost installations or companies travelling into Cornwall from further afield. Price and location alone don’t tell you how good an installer is, but the cheapest quote can quickly lose its appeal when you’re paying for repairs.

Before accepting a quote, ask who will carry out the work, how the panels will be secured, what checks will be completed and who will return if something goes wrong.

At i Spy Solar, we’re local, take pride in our work and allow the time each installation needs. Depending on the roof and system, that can mean four or five days. Your roof, electrical safety and investment deserve proper care not a rushed finish. 🏡☀️

Our accreditations and partnerships:
✅ MCS certified
✅ RECC member
✅ Trading Standards Approved
✅ Octopus Energy Trusted Partner
✅ SIGenergy Partner
✅ Tesla Approved Installer
✅ IWA insurance-backed protection
✅ NAPIT registered
✅ PQS SSIP accredited for health and safety

We’re delighted to have completed another fantastic commercial installation for Advent House and Beacon Place in Victoria, Roche. www.indianaworkspace.co.uk

This project involved installing a full solar and battery backup system for a pair of office buildings, providing reliable backup power in the event of a grid outage while helping to reduce energy costs and maximise renewable energy generation.

It’s been a pleasure working on such an impressive development. If you’re looking for high quality office space in Cornwall, these offices are well worth a look!

At i Spy Solar Ltd, we pride ourselves on delivering professional, high quality installations backed by industry-leading products and expert workmanship.

⚡ Another major commercial installation completed by i Spy Solar Ltd! ☀️🔋

Take a look behind the scenes at one of our latest projects in Victoria, Cornwall.

We’ve installed two commercial 50 kW Solar PV systems, each paired with:
🔋 108 kWh of SIGenergy battery storage (9 × 12 kWh batteries)
⚡ Full Sigenergy Gateway backup systems

In the event of a power cut, the Gateway switches over to battery power within milliseconds, keeping the offices running with virtually no interruption.

With the batteries fully charged (which they are most days thanks to the solar) and good sunshine, the building can continue operating without relying on the grid for extended periods. It’s a fantastic example of how modern Solar PV and battery storage can provide lower energy costs, greater energy independence and true backup power.

At i Spy Solar Ltd, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality renewable energy solutions for both domestic and commercial customers across Cornwall and Devon.

Our accreditations include:
✅ MCS Certified
✅ RECC Member
✅ Trading Standards Approved
✅ Octopus Energy Trusted Partner
✅ SIGenergy Specialist
