Future Health Biobank

Future Health Biobank Europe’s first accredited family stem cell bank and UK Queen’s Award winner, Future Health Biobank.

Future Health started by storing cord blood stem cells in 2002 and within four years it had stored its 10,000th sample. Another five years on and the company’s purpose built cryogenic storage facility has over 50,000 stem cell samples for families from more than 45 countries in its care. A cord tissue storage service was added in 2009 and now services to capture cells from other sources identified for potential medical use – such as dental pulp and adipose tissue - have been introduced with further services.

💛 Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

This month, we’re thinking of the children and families affected by childhood cancer.

The numbers can be difficult to read, but they’re important. Behind every statistic is a child, a family and their own story.

Here are a few facts to help raise awareness:

• Around 400,000 children and adolescents worldwide are diagnosed with cancer each year.

• In the UK, around 1,645 children aged 0-14 are diagnosed with cancer every year.

• Approximately 1 in 500 children in the UK will develop some form of cancer before the age of 14.

• Leukaemia is the most common childhood cancer, accounting for around one-third of all childhood cancer diagnoses.

• More than 80% of children with cancer can be cured in high-income countries where comprehensive treatment and care are available.

• In many lower-income countries, fewer than 30% of children with cancer are cured, highlighting the importance of access to diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care.

Awareness is one small way we can show our support. This month, we’re helping to keep the conversation going and thinking of all the children and families affected. 💛
