Job Vacancy – Part Time Personal Assistant / Administrator

We are looking for a part time personal assistance / administrator to assist a busy Rural Agent / Bookkeeper. 20 hours over 3 days per week, with potential to increase to full time. Flexible hours between 8am and 5pm. The role is office based on a farm near Lewdown.

General duties to include –
• Scanning, filing, printing, and binding
• Organising and dealing with emails
• Taking and making telephone calls, keeping relevant notes, and passing on messages
• Basic bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online
• Managing a sales ledger and debt control
• Processing of Sustainable Farming Incentive and Capital Grant applications and declarations / claims
• Taking of and processing photos for Capital Grant Schemes - this requires basic fitness to walk several miles in a day.
• Completion of basic forms

The successful applicant will –
• Have a positive, can-do attitude
• Will be discreet, punctual, reliable, and respectful toward clients and colleagues
• Be able to apply common sense
• Be able to follow instructions
• Be able to think and plan ahead
• Be professional and organised
• Have a basic understanding of the agricultural sector
• Be flexible
• Be able to work school holidays
• Have a full clean driving licence

Immediate start. Six-month probation period with permanent contract thereafter. Statutory holiday allowance. Training will be given to the right candidate, however good working knowledge of QBO, and Microsoft Excel will be a huge advantage.

A new RPA grant called the Farming Investment Fund (FIF) has just opened which provides grants to improve productivity and bring environmental benefits. The grant consists of two funds:
• Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (for grants between £2,000 and £25,000)
• Farming Transformation Fund (for grants between £35,000 and £500,000)
The first grants available under the fund opened on the 16th November 2021 and will close in January 2022. Countryside Productivity Small Grant Scheme Round 3 – Live for Applications

The Countryside Productivity Small Grant Scheme Round 3 is open from 7 October 2020 until noon on 4 November 2020. The grants are 40% of the standard costs listed in Annex 3 for a minimum grant of £3,000, up to a maximum of £12,000.
If you applied for Round 1 and 2, and your applications were successful, but did not reach the £12,000 maximum, you can apply in Round 3. However the grant value of your Round 3 application must be £3,000 or more.
Farmers can apply for funding towards specific items of equipment listed at Annex 3 of the Countryside Productivity Small Grant scheme Round 3 handbook at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/countryside-productivity-small-grant-cpsg-scheme-round-3/about-countryside-productivity-small-grant-scheme
All the items will help to make improvements in either:
• technical efficiency
• animal health and welfare
• resource efficiency, or
• nutrient management
