At the fortnightly sale of breeding & store sheep there were forward 841 head of sheep comprising 391 Shearlings,
23 Breeding Ewes, 427 Store Lambs.�A good entry of sheep with something for every pocket.
In the Shearling section all classes of sheep sold with all grades getting away well.
Strong smart sheep sold for premium prices with harder farmed sheep looking more value for money.
Many more could have been sold to vendor’s advantage.
The overall price for shearlings was just shy of £200 p/hd which was standing on the year.
This was also the case in the store lamb section and ewes looked well sold.
Judging was under taken by Phil Smith, Huby & he did an expert job.
In the Continental/Native Shearling section Steven Lofthouse, Grewelthorpe took the honours with his pen of quality Texels selling for £205.00.
In the Mule section, David Lister Farms, Clint took the red rosette and his pen sold for £290/head.
S Liddle & Sons, Pot Bridge took 1st place in the Masham section - A topping pen which sold for £158 head
Cont Shearlings to £330 av £214, Mules to £290 av £205 & Mash to £250 av £158.
Ewes followed & got away well. Topping the ewe section was Chris Ryder, Blubberhouses with Texels selling for £180/phd. Store lambs sold to £145.50 from J Croft & C Clarkson, Beamsley with an overall average of £119.61 all in.
