🎨 Something VERY special has just gone up for auction…

As part of our ongoing fundraising, PBCG approached acclaimed artist Emelie Susie and asked her to create a completely unique piece of art for us, with one aim, to raise as much money as possible for St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth.

The result is Trust the Detour, a stunning, hand painted 102cm lighthouse, created to mark 59 years since The Beatles visited Plymouth and were famously photographed on Plymouth Hoe with Smeaton’s Tower behind them.

This is a signed, completely unique, one off original, commissioned by PBCG, with a Certificate of Authenticity. It will never be reproduced.

Most importantly, 100% of the proceeds from the auction will go to St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth, supporting their incredible end of life care for people in our community.

The Plymouth Business Charity Group is incredibly proud to announce that our recent Black Tie Charity Ball has raised an amazing £16,614.90 for our two chosen charities, Jeremiah's Journey and Hearts Together.

This incredible achievement would not have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors, businesses, guests, volunteers and everyone who donated, bid in the auction or bought raffle tickets. Your support has made a real difference.

We were delighted to welcome representatives from both charities for a cheque presentation and to celebrate what can be achieved when the business community comes together for a common purpose. These funds will go directly towards supporting the invaluable work carried out by both organisations, helping local families through some of life’s most challenging times. Knowing the money raised will have such a positive impact makes every hour of planning and volunteering worthwhile.

To our committee, thank you for the countless hours you dedicate behind the scenes. To our sponsors and supporters, thank you for believing in what we do. Together, we continue to prove what can be achieved when businesses unite to support their local community.

Planning is already underway for our next fundraising event, and we can’t wait to share more details with you soon. We hope you’ll join us once again as we continue making a difference, together.

On behalf of the committee of the Plymouth Business Charity Group, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our Black Tie Charity Ball and helped make it such a fantastic evening.

Together, you helped raise thousands of pounds for two incredible charities, Hearts Together and Jeremiah's Journey. We can't wait to reveal the final amount when we present the cheques soon.

A special thank you goes to our headline sponsor, Michael Spiers Jewellers, whose generous support helped create a stunning ballroom and a truly memorable evening for our guests.

Thank you also to our Production Sponsor, PL1 Events Limited, whose expertise ensured the sound, lighting and visuals were nothing short of outstanding.

A huge thank you to Pbmedia, who kindly donated their table to the charities, allowing some of their amazing team to enjoy the evening, and to Synergy, who generously donated their table to veterans and NHS workers. Your kindness perfectly reflects the spirit of the event.

We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers from Hearts Together and Jeremiah's Journey, who gave up their evening to help run the raffle and auction. Your enthusiasm and dedication were invaluable.

It was also an honour to welcome His Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Devon, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, and the Plymouth Lord Mayor, who were able to see first hand the incredible work both charities do within our community.

Finally, thank you to every business and every guest who bought a ticket, sponsored the event, donated auction prizes and supported us throughout the evening. Quite simply, these events would not be possible without you.

Last night's ball marked another incredible milestone for the Plymouth Business Charity Group. Thanks to your generosity, we have now raised more than £200,000 for charity in total.

That figure represents far more than money. It represents lives changed, families supported, communities strengthened and businesses coming together to make a real difference.
