Lord Flashheart didn’t just enter a room; he detonated in it. This shot from Blackadder Goes Forth is the perfect example of how Rik Mayall could take a scene, grab it by the scruff of the neck, and make it his own within seconds. Standing next to Rowan Atkinson’s weary, cynical Blackadder, Flashheart is like a concentrated blast of pure, ridiculous energy.

The quote on the image is classic Flashheart. He was the ultimate parody of the "dashing war hero," full of so much bravado and ego that it should have been annoying, but in Rik’s hands, it was pure comedy gold. He had this incredible ability to be loud and over-the-top while still hitting every single comedic beat with total precision. You can almost hear that booming voice and the trademark "Woof!" just by looking at his face here.

Rik Mayall was truly one of a kind. Whether he was playing Kevin Turvey, Richie, or Flashheart, he threw 100% of himself into the performance. There was no halfway with Rik; he was fearless on screen. Even decades later, these clips still feel as fresh and chaotic as they did when they first aired. It’s a testament to his genius that we’re all still quoting him and laughing at these scenes today.

He’s deeply missed, but characters like Flashheart ensure that his legacy as a comedy titan is never going to fade. He really was the best at being the most.
Which of Rik Mayall’s legendary characters was your absolute favorite to watch?

Happy Burt Day.

On this day - 25 March 1899 - Herbert “Burt” James Munro was born in Edendale, Southland, New Zealand.

What followed was no ordinary life. It was the beginning of a relentless pursuit of speed - driven by ingenuity, determination, and grit. A journey that carried Burt from a humble Invercargill shed to the salt flats of Bonneville, carving his name into motorcycling history and capturing the imagination of the world.

127 years on, his spirit still resonates - through his records, his story, and his enduring legend.

We’re proud to have been part of that story. To have called Burt a friend. To stand as trusted guardians of his legacy and his iconic 1920 Indian Scout - The Munro Special, the World’s Fastest Indian - the machine on which he rode into history.

Just like Burt himself - Authentic. Original. Legendary.

Happy Burt Day, mate.
