Annie’s House residents had a wonderful, fun‑filled day out with CalderStones Community CIC! 🎊

We enjoyed karaoke, a lively quiz, tasty pie and peas, and friendly competitions. There were great opportunities to build skills in money management and making personal choices, plus a lovely walk around Whitworth — what a fantastic adventure we all shared!

We can’t wait for next week!

🌟 Sometimes the right professional can help unlock a little more confidence, comfort or independence.

Today is Allied Health Professions Day, recognising the professionals who support people’s health, communication and everyday lives. These include occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, dietitians, podiatrists, paramedics and creative arts therapists.

Their support might help somebody to:

🗣️ Communicate more confidently
🥤 Eat and drink more safely
🚶 Improve movement or reduce the risk of falls
🏠 Manage everyday activities at home
🦶 Look after their feet and mobility
🎨 Express themselves through music, art or drama
🧩 Find equipment or adjustments that make tasks easier

To get the most from an appointment, it can help to take a short list of concerns, bring any communication information and ask for explanations in an accessible format. Before leaving, check that everyone understands what will happen next.

Most importantly, speak directly to the person and involve them in conversations and decisions about their own health.

At CalderStones Community CIC and VLS Care, we appreciate the professionals who work alongside individuals, families and carers to help people live safely, confidently and as independently as possible. 💚

Has an allied health professional made a difference to you or somebody you support? We would love to hear about it.
