2027 marks a HUGE milestone for as we launch our FIRST EVER MOTOCROSS TEAM! 🏁

Bringing together riders from across Cornwall & Devon, we’ll be taking BBMX to race meetings and competitions across the UK, with some riders competing at a high level. 💪

But this is about more than just racing… 👊

The last few days have been something special here at Black Bearing Ranch. We linked up with Deon from The True North Project — a veteran with zero horse experience… until now.

In just a matter of days, he’s gone from complete beginner to confident and capable around the horses. But the real win? A veteran stepped onto the ranch, immersed himself fully, and is now heading home with a clearer head and a powerful new skill under his belt.

This is what it’s all about — community, purpose, and the healing that comes from working alongside horses. Proud of you, Deon. 🤝🐴

Hard graft today at the ranch! 💪🐴

Deon (a military veteran) and I kicked off the morning with the usual yard duties — mucking out, feeding, haying up, and making fresh beds for our liveries and our own horses. Then by 08:30 we were straight out the gate for a recce of some local woodland.

What we thought would be a quick look turned into a full day of navigating tree lines, weaving through mountain bike tracks, and taking in the scenery. We stopped for a brew and a quick bite, then pushed on with the exploring.

Back at the yard for 3pm and straight into the evening routine, getting all the horses sorted again.

What a day — definitely going to sleep well tonight! 🌲🐎🔥

Wow, what a day!
The BlackBearing team had the privilege of joining for their final cattle drive of the season — and what an experience it was. There’s truly nothing else like it in the UK: moving cattle the traditional western way across rugged, unforgiving terrain that really shows what horse and rider can achieve together. Definitely not one for the faint-hearted!

The western community here in the South West may not be the biggest, but it’s certainly one of the strongest — and without doubt the funniest. The camaraderie out there today was something special.

A huge thank you to all the staff at Dartmoor Riding Holidays. Our relationship continues to grow, and we’re excited about the many avenues of collaboration ahead.

At BlackBearing, we’ve always believed in working together and forging new friendships — today was a perfect reminder of why.
