📸 Early start this morning with Esme before school. The days are long, the weeks are short, and somehow we’re already here again, Friday! 😊

I woke up this morning convinced I’d achieved absolutely nothing this week 🫣

Then I remembered…

✔️ Coached some brilliant leaders through performance conversations
✔️ Worked with partners and collaborators on exciting projects
✔️ Rebranded materials, managed suppliers and improved our client experience
✔️ Supported senior leaders stepping into their next level of leadership
✔️ Did the life admin, family catch-ups and somehow found time to learn to ride my beautiful horse 🐴

No wonder I’m feeling a little pooped today!

Next week we launch our Elevate Programme with leaders at Halton Wales ✨🖤

We kick off with our Thoughtful Leadership Class, supporting strategic leaders to shape culture, influence performance, and lead with greater intention 🦾

The demands on senior leaders have changed. The pace is faster, complexity is higher, and the pressure to make good decisions has never been greater

Neuroscience tells us that when leaders operate under constant pressure, they can become trapped in reactive thinking, focusing on the urgent rather than the important. Thoughtful leadership creates the space to pause, think strategically, regulate emotional responses, and lead from a place of clarity rather than habit ✨🖤

The ability to shift from operational pressure to strategic perspective is an essential leadership capability ↗

One of the most underestimated leadership skills? ✨🖤
Giving effective feedback during growth, pressure, and organisational change

This week, from my garden, I’m designing a bespoke leadership session for a Senior Leadership Team navigating:

☞Increasing operational complexity
☞Acquisitions and integration
☞Centralisation
☞Evolving leadership structures
☞And the reality of becoming a multi-brand business

This is the part of scaling nobody talks about enough. As businesses evolve, leaders are often expected to maintain performance, protect culture, drive accountability, manage uncertainty, and keep people engaged all at the same time 👀

But feedback delivered poorly during change can create:

⇣Defensiveness
⇣Emotional fatigue
⇣Disengagement
⇣And leadership distrust

Half term. Heatwave. Coaching calls between ice lollies and strategy decks 🍦

Founder life this week looks like balancing school holidays with supporting leaders navigating real organisational complexity, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way (although I have moaned a lot in this heat!)

This week inside Unlocq Leadership we are:

⇢Designing a bespoke session for senior leaders on delivering effective feedback during periods of change and growth

The first time I told my story of economic abuse publicly, I thought I might fall apart ⛓️‍💥

Not because I didn’t know what had happened to me, but because saying it out loud meant finally accepting it myself ✨🖤

There’s something incredibly exposing about telling the truth after surviving in silence, confusion and self-doubt for so long. Especially when the outside world sees you as successful, capable and strong 🦾

But what I didn’t expect was what came next:
The healing
The freedom

The messages from women quietly saying:
“Me t👀”

That’s when I realised storytelling doesn’t just heal the person telling it. It creates permission for other women to recognise themselves t👀

And sadly, women in leadership experiencing sabotage through economic abuse is far more common than people realise. So I’ll keep speaking. Because if my story helps one woman recognise the signs sooner, leave earlier, or feel less alone, then it matters ✨🖤

This journey has already taken my story from podcast, to live events, to conversations connected to national policy and the Home Office 🏢

It was board meeting time again this week 👀

My board remain highly engaged in the strategic direction of Unlocq Leadership and continue to provide very direct feedback on my performance ✨🖤

Thankfully, this quarter’s review is shaping up to be positive, we just need a final push in June to reach our goals ↗

The board acknowledged:
※Strong growth
※Exciting new client partnerships
※Good progress on leadership readiness initiatives
※And acceptable catering during meetings

They also noted that whilst momentum is building, there is “still quite a lot to do” - Fair assessment honestly ✓

Building a micro business while balancing operations and strategic growth is stretching at times, and it reminded me of something I hear often from leaders in my coaching sessions:

Trying to lead strategically whilst still holding everything together operationally is hard 👀

So if that’s you right now, you are absolutely not alone ✨🖤

One thing I’m really excited about is bringing more of ‘The Collective’ into the spotlight from June onwards, so expect to see more of the brilliant people behind Unlocq and the work they’re doing to help us reach more leaders far and wide ✨🖤

Yesterday I had the best time with the Senior Leadership Team at Halton Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

We spent the day together for a discovery session at the start of their Elevate journey, where I had the chance to meet each leader individually, understand their ambitions and hear what they want from the programme

These days are always so insightful💡

I genuinely believe leaders are the experts in what they need, which is why I always say our approach is a partnership, not a prescription for development. That’s the Unlocq way ✨🖤

One thing came through strongly across the whole team:

Their undeniable positive intent to achieve their goals, both individually and collectively

Now the work begins 🛫

Refining strategic leadership capability through our Elevate programme and helping each leader find their Edge through monthly coaching support ✨🖤

It’s going to be an intense leadership development journey, but I already know we’ll have a lot of fun along the way too
