The frosts in May left us with hardly any fruit on the vines or the apple trees. So the tiny press has been called out of retirement.

Thanks to for capturing a some moments from our apple harvest a few weeks ago.

The juice has since been added to our rehydrated Sauvignac skins for a little experiment in making piquette.

Small harvests, new ideas. 🍎

Oswald from has arrived for a little staycation at .

It’s his first time meeting the ladies, but it looks like he’s already making quite the impression.

Fingers crossed for a few more little faces on the farm come spring!

When guests ask if they can swim in the lake…
We always say it’s too shallow.
After this summer, we’re going to have to start calling it a puddle.

We were promised clear skies and sunshine for our tiny Sauvignac harvest the vines that escaped the May frost.

We gathered our small team and headed out into the vines… just as the fine drizzle arrived.

Still, we picked 220kg of fruit. Not the harvest we’d hoped for, but we’ll take it.

Foot trodden, 24 hours on skins, then pressed. Some has joined last year’s w**e for a col fondo, and the remainder is fermenting in tank.

A small harvest, but a good one.

Huge thanks to our friend and photographer Chris www.dunicanphotography.com for being quick enough with his camera to capture our very short morning in the vines.

Roll on 2027. 🍷

A huge thank you to frank! for creating such a bountiful organic kitchen garden for us this year - we’ve been eating very well indeed, with endless salads and fresh organic veg.

And there’s more to come… jams, chutneys and other goodies which will find their way into our Coes larder shop for guests.

Nothing fancy. Just good homegrown food made with passion 🌱
