Buying at Auction– A Guide for Buyers

• Before the sale, take a good look at our catalogue. We check items before they go into auctions and produce descriptions which we believe are accurate. Whilst we make every effort to ensure the accuracy of the catalogue and description of any lot we do not accept responsibility or give any guarantee regarding authenticity, attribution, genuineness, origin, date, age, condition or quality of any lot.
• Speedbird Auctions at no point are the legal owners of the lots offered in our auctions. We act solely as an agent between the Vendor and the Buyer.
• You are welcome to attend our auction in person or bid online. If attending in person, please register with us prior to the sale by calling 01359-232667.
• Once you have found the item you want to bid on, register and then simply click the 'Get approved to bid' button and fill in a few details about yourself and register your credit card.
• If you haven’t already created an account on thesaleroom.com you’ll need to do that first, it only takes a moment. Please make sure that your delivery address is up to date and correct.
Bidding online is easy!
• A convenient option is to place a maximum bid before the auction starts. This is the highest amount you are willing to pay for a lot. Then sit back and relax.
• Once the auction starts, thesaleroom.com will place your bids for you, only ever bidding just enough to do keep you in the lead and it will never go beyond your limit. If nobody else bids more than your maximum bid then you will win the lot.
• Alternatively, you can bid live during the auction. You can do this on your PC, tablet or mobile phone. You’ll be joining the thrill of the event and competing against other buyers in real time. You will be able to see and hear the auction as it progresses and place your bids as the items you want to buy come up.
• You place your bid by clicking the ‘Bid Live Now’ button.
• Wait for the amount you want to bid to appear on the screen and click the blue bid button. If you are the highest bidder, the button will turn green. If you are outbid, the blue button will reappear and you can have another go.
• If you are the successful bidder, then the item is yours!
• Buyer's Premium will be added to the hammer price of each lot that you purchase. This is currently 10% plus VAT.
• Please note: all bids are final and if you’re bidding via the-saleroom.com, we have no control over the bids entered and we cannot remove or amend any bids.
• After the sale has ended, we will contact all successful bidders by emailing an invoice to arrange payment. We accept card payments or bank transfer. Sorry but we do NOT accept Paypal as a method of payment for auction invoices. Payment must be made within 7 days.
• We will carefully pack and despatch the items to you – the charge for this will be included on your auction invoice. You are of course welcome to visit us at a pre-arranged time to collect your items.
• All items are shipped at the risk of the buyer. Speedbird Auctions are not responsible for any packages lost or damaged in transit. Please note that while we offer to post and pack for buyers, we require buyers to obtain their own insurance for the items, as Royal Mail only provides a limited insurance and we take no responsibility for the items once they have left our premises.
• All goods remaining at the auction rooms after 14 days will be subject to a storage charge of £2 per lot per day (unless prior agreement has been made with us). If after three weeks items have not been collected, Speedbird Auctions reserve the right to sell the items either at auction or privately.

Lot Feature - Concorde Memorabilia Auction - 21st January 2026

Pair of Concorde Passenger Cabin Seats from the 2001 'Return to Service' cabin refit as designed by Sir Terence Conran.

Alongside the mandatory return-to-service modifications required by the Civil Aviation Authority in 2001 to regain Concorde's certificate of airworthiness, British Airways chose to go even further by investing in a cabin upgrade to 5 of its 7 Concorde fleet. The arm rests of these seats were designed to replicate the 'Speedbird' crest from British Airways/BOAC.

The current owner of these seats purchased these in 2004 in the exclusive DoveBid auction that British Airways commissioned which saw a vast range of Concorde parts, memorabila and merchandise sold off. They are preserved in fantastic condition and would make a great addition to any serious collectors' collection.

This is a real moment for us at Speedbird. If you know anything about us, you will know Concorde is in our DNA and is adored by our MD, Ben Lord.

For the last 6 months, we have been working steadily in creating probably the largest Concorde memorabilia auction since British Airways held their famous auction with Dovebid in 2004. With items dating back to the very first commercial flight 50 years ago from the collection of the late David Springbett (believed to be British Airways Concorde's third most frequent flyer), we then have a number of items from a revered collector who flew on Concorde as a passenger and has adored this aircraft since it first flew in 1969. It promises to be a really iconic opportunity to purchase some very rare items indeed. We also have a large collection of model airliner aircraft going under the hammer as well.

And what better time and place to be hosting this sale than at Aerospace Bristol alongside the last Concorde ever to fly (G-BOAF) and on the 50th Anniversary of the first Concorde commercial flights on 21st January 1976.
